With the free
Centurion CN9-A© giveaway, there's probably a lot of new players out there with brand spankin' new Centurions they're running around in. The default build is quite a lot of fun, but there's a small quirk to it that might escape notice. You see, the Centurion's missile bays have doors on them, and they need to open before you can fire. If you push the button to fire them and the doors are closed, you'll experience a brief delay between pushing and your missiles firing, which is often enough to be the difference between "I just blew the side torso off that
Atlas" and "I just missed, and now that
Atlas is lining up to return fire."
If you look in the bottom left of the
Centurion's cockpit, you'll see there is a blue cable leading to a small light fixed to a window strut. If it's yellow, your doors are closed. If it's green, they are open. Hit the "/" (by default) to toggle them open or closed. While open, your missiles fire faster, while closed damage to your left torso is slightly reduced. It's good practice to leave the doors closed while you're outside SRM range, then open them once you expect to enter close combat soon (or vice versa if you are running LRMs).
