I have had this issue off and on for a couple of weeks. The first time it happened was after the UI 2.0 patch. I could get logged in, but as soon as it tried to load my mechbay, the game crashed with a pop up saying, "UNKNOWN FAILURE". Pretty vague..... I tried restarting my machine, restarted my router, turned off my firewall, spyware and anti-virus, ran the repair tool, and nothing worked. SO...I did a clean install, and that seemed to work for a while, but...alas, I'm having this issue again.
Uninstalling, and then RE-installing this game every couple of weeks is NOT an acceptable work around. This has been going on for quite a while. I think it's safe to say, the community deserves something from the DEVS on this issue (other than burying the thread in the archive), and what they're doing to solve it.

Try this.
OMG? WTF? This worked.
I opened IE and it said the page cannot be loaded in offline mode. Would I like to connect? I clicked connect. After the page loaded I made sure to set the "Use Default" thing just to follow the instructions (even thought it didn't make a change for me since my IE home page was already set to the default).
I think my issue was the weird offline mode. Not sure why IE was in an offline mode. I read this forum topic using Chrome so I know my internet was working in general.

I found a solution to the problem, but it might sound weird.
Go to your Internet Explorer (yes, IE) and go to settings and from the homepage press ''Use default'' or something. It has solved my problems with League of Legends always and it solved this as well. However, I have no idea why it helps.

The "IE" fix seems to have worked for me as well.
I wonder if it's something to do with dotNET?

Actually, I didn't end up trying this fix. I updated my video card drivers, and that seemed to work for now.
With as random as the crashes were, I'm not convinced that solved the problem. A couple weeks will tell for sure though.
