So there's still an issue where hitting spacebar assigns command of either company or lance at random. Because I've reported this before, I'll just quote myself here.

Quote

Yeah, this has been happening since the UI2.0 patch, and hitting spacebar reliably reproduces the bug. You don't get command every time you hit spacebar, but every time you get command, it's because you did, and it doesn't matter if your mech has jumpjets or not. It doesn't seem to happen when typing in chat.

There are already a few threads about this from the last few patches, but so far there is no word at all if anyone knows/cares about this, so I'm going to keep reporting an incredibly easy to repro bug every patch until it gets fixed.

Will you also continue to submit incredibly easy support tickets ?

I've been assigned as the commander a few times and I certainly didn't hit spacebar. I've been assigned commander without even touching the keyboard.

When someone that has command dies, the system will automatically select another player to take over instead of releasing it. It would make sense to not have the system automatically declare a new commander, as those players might not be interested in being in command, locking the option for those that might have wanted to volunteered as a successor.

Well for me before it seemed to happen if I was actually chatting a lot in the pre-match screen or in the match itself.

I am not sure but will a Commander be automatically reassigned to another Player if the current Commanders Mech gets destroyed?

Bcs a few times i was Commander when the old one was dead.

Another command-related bug: I was in a match where every lance and company command was taken by the players at the ready screen (to stop a few players from playing with those buttons), obliterated the other team (command ranks held, tho nobody bothered with the map), then the end-of-match screen took away all those command symbols.

Related bug? (This one doesn't functionally matter right now, but if it helps fix OP's bug... there it is.)

I don't think the bug is specific to the spacebar... rather it is linked to whatever is mapped to the Jump Jet button.

I don't believe this occurs if you're not running a JJ capable mech.

I was also assigned as commander many times when using jumpjets. It happened frequently after the UI2.0 patch, almost in every match.

This is pretty reproducable. Open and close the map and mash spacebar.

You get leader eventually.

Hey,

I've seen this a few times on production myself. At what point are you hitting space bar? During combat or on the drop preparation screen?

EDIT: I've been spamming spacebar for the last 4-5 matches and when no one had company command and I've not been able to reproduce however this issue has been entered into our bug database if you have any clearer steps to reproduce this please send us a ticket.

This is definitely happening during combat; during the prematch screen, it doesn't seem to have any effect. I've also never received a commander assignment from hitting spacebar while typing in chat.

I don't get command every single time I hit space, but if I am in a jumpjet capable mech, I am guaranteed to get it by the time the match is over, generally several times (I've gotten very good at quickly resigning command).

It seems unlikely that this is affecting everyone, as there are plenty of matches with other people who never get command yet jump all game long; on the other hand, I do see a number of people who, like me, quickly get and then resign command several times throughout the match, so I don't think it's something from my config alone. Let me know if there are any details about my config you need, I'll be happy to provide.

It's possible that it's related to the jump button; but I do definitely get this on mechs that are not jump capable. I first noticed this after switching from a jumping raven to the 3L when I tried to jump, but then I tested for it intentionally in my Awesomes and Hunchbacks; I can reliably reproduce this bug in mechs without jjs.

So I've tried to recreate this but the only time it seems to happen is before launch. Best I can do.

I often get command by combinations involving Numpad0 (full throttle). I found the following sequence of actions reliably causes this behavior on my system/client:

A) general situation: MWO in windowed mode, drop into Skirmish/public

B) detailed steps:
10 wait till the match started
20 open chat by pressing either of (T,Y,U)
25 close chat by pressing ESC twice
30 display team list by holding TAB key
35 release TAB key
40 press Numpad0
50 if you didn't get command (and tried only once) goto 30

C) clue: It doesn't seem to work without the steps (20,25).

D) I tested some more in the meantime and made a discovery:
In the Drop Preparation screen, and sometimes in the Battlegrid, the TAB key selects a button and either (SPACE, Numpad0) key triggers it. With enough presses of TAB, the buttons Take Company/Lance Command can be selected and then triggered.
It seems after completing steps (10-25) the game behaves as though a transparent Drop Preparation or Battlegrid is open, neither visible nor interrupting normal gameplay, noticeable only because your (TAB, SPACE/Numpad0) keys keep triggering the Take Command buttons in addition to their normal function.

very mysterious.

I received company command tonight fairly early in a match of Crimson Strait Conquest, so I was able to take note of the very few inputs I made:

Clicked the Ready button.
(Match starts.)
Numpad0 for full throttle.
WASD for maneuvering.
U to open team chat to answer somebody's question. -> promoted to Company Commander.

No tabs. No spacebar. In a non-jumping BJ-1X.

I was answering a commander-type question, so maybe the game knew. ;)
