But can you REALLY tell me it don't bug you? Alex re-designed Symmetrical Chicken Walker Death made to Perfection. The In game Modelers delivered it to the T. If A Giant Stompy Robot could be SEX, it would be the K2.
Perfection. I get misty eyed and weak kneed looking at my old Killer of CB. Are the Barrels oversized? NO! Look at the bores! They obviously have armored sleeves to help protect their 7 ton lightning guns.
And so we get a geometry pass, and lo! Things can only get better! Except.......
PGI giveth. PGI taketh away.
Is anyone else with me about the great injustice done to the once Masterpiece that was the K2? This is like if the restorers of the Sistine Chapel had used spray paint. Neon spray paint.
Thank you for your support.
And honestly, the PPC itself may be fine in the K2.... but if you look at the geometry change, the Bore appears the same. But the original had a MUCH thicker barrel wall, obviously, armored. Hence the beefier look. That kind of visual quirl helps MAKE the mechs in this game. There is a reason that for the most part, the CB Mechs all are wonderfully more interesting visually, and so detailed. Have you looked at the HBK's arms, up close, especially as they flex at start up? THAT was a first class game model.
And the AC20? Base it off the Atlas. The only reason for the AC20 hunch to be so huge on the HBK is that it is armored. Sadly, they won't think it through and do something smart like as a quirk, increase the armor of the HBK Hunch by 50% allowance to compensate. A person still has to make the trade off in something else, AND the rest of the mech is just as fragile as before.
behold the new "Improved" Geometry Awesome, now with Lightning Gun Jubblies!
same PPC, extra armor removed, on 30, 35 and 50 ton game models.
Yup. Pt 3 in my continuing crusade against the horrific generic in game weapon modeling PGI has been lazily forcing on us. In my K2/PPC post, one commenter mentioned the PPC size on the locust, so I built a scale comparison model.
PPC barrel is 33% greater in diameter on the Locust, and much longer, at least 2x.
Mind you, I think it is silly small on BOTH models, hence the far right, where I again do PGI's job for them by demonstrating how it SHOULD look on a locust.
Is it a game breaking issue like heat and weapon balance, pinpoint convergence or hard points? No, but then those are all handled by different coders in different departments, thus keep your whinging about priorities to a low roar, shall we? I can assure you that I am fully cognizant of those issues, too. They don't dismiss this one, in the least.
I think anyone but a MinMax uber comp player worried about nothing but hitbox size (which in few cases do large arms hurt a mech... unless you are a Catapult Missile Boat, though their fix is a matter of shrinking them by losing the VCRs.) would agree we would like more of our mechs to look less silly?
The goal, apparently for in game models comes to around an 8% difference in size between the weapon on an assault and a Light, using the numbers given by Dennis, assuming 100 on a Assault, the Light should be at about 92%
these are in scale, in game models, of the Left arm of the Banshee-S, and the left arm of the FS9-K
Look like 8% to you? Mind you, this ain't an attack on Dennis, who has provided quite a bit of useful feedback on pages 13-15. But it does show the disconnect between their goals, and current reality. Probably having the different modelers working in a vacuum doesn't help.
But to further demonstrate the disparity
THIS is the stock 3025 TRO image of the Urbanmech
THIS is an Urbanmech with the AC10 scaled down to the same degree as the differential between the Banshee and the Firestarter's PPCs.
anyhow,as said, Dennis did say it is being or going to be looked into. Hopefully when time allows we will see a little more consistency between mechs. Thank you , for your support!
