Greetings, fellow Mechwarriors

as for today, on the scheduled start of the launch module, there is something that has to be done.
A suicide mission unlike any other und unpreceeded in this world.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it is:

Break the 3/3/3/3 matchmaker.

Simple as it is, the mission is to put as much pressure on the matchmaker as possible. Build horrendous lances, sync drop, choose unusual weight classes. Do whatever comes into your mind to make the matchmaker weep.

The core objective is reconnaisance:
(How) Can the matchmaking algorithm be exploited?
... broken to ensure matchmaking fails?
... create favorable or unfavorable odds to an individuum or team?
... create long quenue times or short wait times?

Please report your methods, evaluations and strategies.

Good Luck.

I was going to PM ya Ego to say that this was actually a good (and necessary) idea, but I see your boss beat me to it. :P

I assumed this would be happening even without an open cry to do so.

Breaking 3/3/3/3 so you can ensure your continued wins you didn't earn will achieve two things. Your short term happiness because your winning, and no doubt the continued collapse of the games new player retentions leading to the games demise. This isn't specifically aimed at the thread just the ones who will try it to spoil others fun .

.....dang... I don't want to choose between private matches and general queue..... I could have passed up general queue with the simple notion of "its the same but maybe better matches"...but you then throw out this challenge?

....so, random thoughts:
Multiple 3A/1H lances dropping at the same time... how many find games before meds/lights queue runs dry

Dropping 1A/1H/1M/1L vrs 3/1 lances, which offers longer wait times

What if 12 pairs of pilots all drop as Assaults.. what's the wait like or does the MM start grouping 2 or more lances on a side?

....curse you sidekick.... I don't wanna decide

I did PM him... As usual he was quite professional!

Since we don't have a real beta test any more this will be a goo time to see if the 34 can handle the strain! Just remember to log the data good or bad and send it in.

This is actually not a bad idea.
I had spent the whole weekend training in mediums in anticipation of the 3/3/3/3 system, as a means of insuring I can find a match quickly (since they're so unpopular). But after reading this, maybe I should drop in My favorite heavy, or even an assault, non stop, just to see how the new system handles it.

Dunno, I did just get comfy in three mediums, and I almost have that damned Griffin-1s mastered........

No, I'm Spartacus! ....uhhh well you get it.

I think that this is going to be essential, as abusable as past iterations were we need to at least find out where this falls down. And hey since only 16% of players will be doing this I'm not sure we'll be able to break much of anything.

We alreayd know there is a bug with more than one team per side (possible), so any testing should avoid that particular issue.

I'm inclined to disagree. A special focus should be made to find out how to reliably recreate that.

it we can detail exactly how to abuse the MM and in a way that all but ensures multiple groups that should in theory provide more data on how to fix that particular issue. If they (PGI) get all the possible info on how multiple groups are slipping into the same match then they know where the holes to plug are.

Bug smushing step 1 can you replicate the issue reliably and how.

Probably pretty easy, possibly has a 50% chance to be grouped on enemy team as the sync team though.

Team 1: 3 Assaults, 1 Heavy
Team 2: 3 Heavies, 1 Medium (or light)

or maybe you'd have better luck with this:

Team 1: 2 Assaults, 2 Heavies
Team 2: 2 Mediums, 2 Lights

or any combination close to above
