Anyway, the idea is this: participants in a private match might contribute a value (in C-Bills) to the "kitty" (betting pool) before the match via the lobby interface (the amount currently wagered might be another field next to the player's name). The "kitty" would be split evenly amongst the winning team members at the end of the match. This way there would be a way to earn C-Bills in private matches, but it would be a net-zero exercise - the C-Bills existed before the match, just in other people's accounts, so it would not really be subject to abuse.
Anyway, the wagering would be purely voluntary, and everyone would ready up as normal when they had both their desired mech and their desired wager set up.
Pretty simple really. What do you think?

Unfortunately, people will complain that others will use the first 25 matches on cadet accounts (that are then abandoned) to farm c-bills via bad wagers.
Edit: Though...they could make it so that an account needs to own at least X amount of mechs to wager anything...meaning those cadet c-bills need to be spent, first.

Ghost, you are a wet towel to the fires of my enthusiasm....

Yeah, I would love wagering, but you just turned up the 1 reason that it probably won't be implemented.

Yeah, it might be a good idea to limit participation in the wagering to those with at least 4 owned mechs or something similar - basically, some indication of commitment to the account.
Secondly, to further discourage abuse, it might be wise to apply a 10% "house's take" on the winnings - for setting up and officiating the match, of course. So if the total kitty was 1000000, the winnings would be 900000 when divvied up amongst the winners.

No YOU'RE a towel...lol. They'd have to code a way to put limits on it...but it'd still be cool. And yeah...we could actually use the phrase 'So can I have your stuff?' when people ragequit.

Well I would hope that the Mech requirement is 2-3. Cause that what I normally have. I have to have my (F)Atlas, I also must have Sara. I basically use my Battlemaster now... so 3 mechs.

It's a pipe dream, but wagering mechs and bays would be great for trials of possession.
