My Suggestion To Dial Down The Lrm Spam

That means only lasing and NARCs will let LRMs target and track without line of sight.
Getting red triangles popping up every 5 seconds from friendly targeting when no lasing is being used is pointless if a TAG is also in the game.
It's frustrating when you're taking cover from LRM spam and a light runs around you with no TAG and yet missiles are hitting you from 800m away with no line of sight.
This isn't balanced.

1. Stop what you're doing
2. Run to the closest cover while you look around for the LRMs.
3. See where the LRMs are coming from.
4. If your cover is not effective quickly move to a new location that will be. You'll know the spot because you looked for where the LRMs were coming from.
5. Once your cover is effective stay there for like 20 seconds.
6. While you wait, let your team know what grid the LRMs are coming from. If you have decent players on your team some of the Light/Med pilots will gladly go give that LRM boat an ***** for you.
7. Profit.
Edit: Hey, an ***** is a legitimate medical procedure.

1 - If you can run ECM, do so.
2 - If you can run an AMS, add it to your mech. If you can do double AMS, add both, with at least one ton of ammo per AMS.
3 - Listen and look. Are there red letters flashing over you saying "Incoming missiles" and are there audio warnings of the same? Then move into cover.
4 - Where are the missiles coming from? Sometimes you can simply take a few steps back and be out of range. Others you can take a few steps forward and be too close for them to arm. Regardless, finding the trajectory is needed to pick correct cover.
5 - Communicate. Have you ID'd a missile boat? Call it out in chat. Let people know that it's vulnerable up-close and very dangerous at range. Let them know where it's staging from, so they can use cover, or so they can engage it.
All that said, I really do think that giving LRMs SSRM-style bone tracking (I favor grouping LRMs into flights of 5 missiles for tracking purposes, like TT does it) would fix any lingering issues LRMs might have.

Oh, wait...this thread isn't about people that know how to defend against LRMs.
Carry on...

This morning I went on a MWO binge at a time of the day that's fairly inactive. Matches started out fairly even, lots of "GGs" and sportsmanship being displayed. You get the occasional premade here and there but because they're using variety along with the rest of the pugs, MWO life is good. Then you get that one premade who's using the tag and bag method of boating where the pugs join along and there's a fairly harsh stomp from lurms at the end of that match. No biggie... write it off and... Oh oops, it's that time of the morning where those guys are in the next drop... ok one more time of being kicked in tehe nuts. Maybe a change of weight class or map type with the hopes of elo swapping in fresh people, but one by one the same players start getting paired together.
These players influence PUGs. The pugs go "crap those LRMs trashed us, lets try them ourselves while others simply drop out in frusration. See where this is going kids? Not only are diminishing returns in effect, but the problem begins snowballing out of control due to the small pool of players until EVERYONE almost every match has at least 2 groups of boats flinging poo like a bunch of howler monkeys at the zoo. Lurmageddon become in FULL EFFECT while puggers sit in queue after queue rather than participating and having fun until the silly ones like myself go make goofy threads to laugh at how grim the situation is, and/or others simply quit. LRMs on thier own are not that bad. LRMs against pugs are a tad worse. LRMs when everybody and their mom are using them in the same match is hell on earth. The same thing goes for tarting PPC/AC users. PGI can't take the choice away from players boating, so the best way to combat is by discouraging it for the sake of casual players.
Keep tossing neat ideas around on how the LRM situation can be handled. The game needs them.

How is this any different than a pre-made of PPC/UAC5 Victors coming in and meta-stomping some pugs?
Or a bunch of organized PPC/AC/20 Victors?
Or some well organized dual AC/20 Jagers?
Or a swarm of Jenners working as a team?
Oh, but it's only LRMs that bother you, even though they are the one weapon that is actually fairly easy to deal with unless you are a derp.

Lights are an utter waste of LRM ammo, the only thing I really miss about the 170ms speed, was being able to hit them properly.
Any lights that are having issues with LRMs are either 20 tons (here's a hint, 20 ton mechs suck) or they stop repeatedly (bad light pilots).
