From what I've seen, Sniper units are a general purpose Malady. Unless you fall far enough down the Elo-Ladder (Like I've done, playing a Stock SHD-2H in Public), and then the Snipers get replaced with LRM Boats. Until they fix pinpoint damage to not be so.... well.... pinpoint, and nerf the indirect spread on missiles, or double the damage and double the reload time on them, we will consistently see LRM Spam at low Elo, and Sniper Spam at higher Elo. It's this thing called the Meta.

Yes max - meta builds playing safe are bad, boring, and borderline trolling. I don't want to see weapons get any more nerfed, so here's how you beat both LRMS and snipers (pop tarts included): run far around the map with 1 or more of your pug mates and make them shoot at you. They give up their position then they die. Every single time.

If anything needs to be done I'd appreciate some reward for tactical thinking over damage values.

If it makes you feel any better, I actually can't meta; I tried putting an AC/10 and two PPCs on my VTR-9K but I just couldn't do it, so I stuck with my LB-10 X and three Medium Lasers.

While Meta is good, it doesn't necessarily mean you'll win in a 4man due to 8 other uncoordinated pug. It does however give you an edge at winning due to the poor matchmaker that sometimes will throw people into completely unbalanced teams.

BTW ManDaisy, wasn't it me who shut you down the other day with ppc's ;D

Or better spotting rewards. I run around with my Jenner, spot for a bit, get noticed, run like hell, then hide somewhere else. Spot for a bit, lather rinse repeat. When it is all said and done, I have no kills and 30 damage or so on the boards. Sure, I tagged a bunch of people but no one sees that.
