As seen in this video around 9:40, Jager mentions that Champions Mechs are in need of improvement.

I recall the first one, DRG-5N{C}, was designed by the community beore the Gauss change to the charge up feature.

All others since, I have no idea where they came from.

Discuss existing ones and possible new ones.

Me, I think there needs to be at least 1 ECM version given ECM exists at the lowest ELO and new players need one to train on. Unless new Champions are chosen for the Spider, Cicada and Atlas, that leaves the COM-2D and RVN-3L.

Of the Mechs I know:
I dread they will choose the Locust-1V when it comes time due to the Spider Champion.

I know some are fans of the stock Hunchback-4P but I would have let new people try something like this, I ran that and the one with a LL, pretty useful.

If they choose a Griffin 1N or 1S, it will handicap a new player.

I would choose a stock Thunderbolt-9SE, not sure if I would even mod it, I just like the nice simplicity of it, it has some upgraded tech and it has JJ.

Not sure which Awesome would be best and even then, it will still need modifying.

I did try the Stalker Champion, it was OK but I understand the XL problem it has. I would have chosen the 3H and kept most of it as is, twin LRM20s are fine to start with as long range weapons and the close range is good too, probably beef up the engine and add DHS like this.

I toyed around with a few others but not enough to comment now.
