I've noticed this same problem with my Clan LRMs the past two days. It's occurring several times each drop.

It seems to be when you first shoot at a given target for the match, and it effects more than just CLRMs.

It really hurts when you are running in a stock mech (4J, trying to level it before Stock Mech Monday) and only have 2 tons of ammo. I'm good at selecting only stable locks/getting my own locks and conserving ammo when possible, but this is really starting to take a dent into my performance. (Was seeing 200-500 damage a match average with my stock mech. Now, since the new patch, I've been doing anywhere from 100 damage (no ammo left) to 500 damage...)

Yeah. At least to me, it seems that even if you've got reduced lock-on time with personal equipment (TAG, for example), it's not always giving you the reduced lock-on, even though your crosshairs SEEM to be going red. Same problem with IS LRMs, it's just we're seeing a lot of Clan LRMs out there right now and they're sharing coding.

I've been taking to following the audio cues for lock vs. visuals, which is annoyhing as heck.

This sorta reminds me of the glitchy stuff we had the last time Clan weapon data was added in- something in LRMs reacted then, giving us the infamous dud LRM launchers.

Chiming in, also getting this with cLRMs on multiple Stormcrow and Timber Wolf variants.

I've had this problem on occasion in the past with IS LRMs as well, but it seems much more common now. When I've seen it, it often coincides with something that would normally break targeting.

Examples:
- Lose lock as enemy enters ECM range, though lock is maintained with TAG.
- Enemy leaves direct LOS but lock is maintained through Target Retention module or teammate's targeting.
- Enemy passes behind level geometry that partially obscures vision, but lock is maintained. Possibly related to similar issues I've seen with terrain hitboxes being much larger than visual model?

I'm getting this too on all my IS chassis that bear LRMs. It appears that the visual indication of lock precedes the actual lock by ~1 second. Manageable, but frustrating.

Can also confirm this affect IS LRMs, even with Artemis.

Seems to be a hitch b/w lock in HUD and true lock. I'm waiting good 1.5 sec after lock to fire. Also Narc should not be defeated by radar module and it is.

Had this happen a couple of times with a set of A-LRM10 on my Atlases. Really looks like you have to wait about half a second after you get lock to make the missiles track to target.

LRMs are broken and you have to use weapons that require LOS?

Tell me more!

Can't tell if you are being sarcastic, joking, or insulting...

However, LRMs are a weapon system and should work properly. Just like how PPCs should register their hits when they hit, so should LRMs home in when you have a solid lock.

(Oh, and I do dearly hope you aren't confusing me for an LRM boat. If so, you will find my backup weapons (or primary weapons mech dependent) still highly damaging. I've said it before. I'll say it again. I'm not a boat.)

PS: Though I could be wrong, I feel you are implying that LRMs are a skill-less weapon system. I still highly disagree with that statement.

I have been looking at the clan LRMs on the Light mechs and I am still having the problem with the first volley at a target missing. I looked at this in games and in the training grounds.

The IS LRMs I still can not see missing the first volley in game or in the training grounds. What am I missing?

I recognize some of the people in this forum from in game, so I know that what you are seeing has to be there.

Now I know that new target decay module is out there and have seen it in game. All it does is make me just watch for that mech to break cover or use just one launcher to keep them hiding behind cover and not shooting. Tesunie, I think this can be added to your LRM guide.

This is really not about boating LRMs but rather them being bugged somewhat.
Everybody wants their weapons to work properly, not really a "balance"-topic.
