Sorry for asking without looking first, but i am in the office and and look like I was working ;)

Checking here only takes 1 minute (I do so every day), and I saw the Trenchbucket. 3 Laser- and 2 LRM-Hardpoints sent my mind off planning immediately... reducing or removing the arm LRM and increasing the laser to heavy for example... I like that Mech already :D

Then popped a question up in my head: In several MechWarrior games the Mechs had a limited supply of coolant to emergency-cool the Mech when things get a little hot. Do we have that here, too?

You see: I always much preferred managing heat to managing ammunition. Even in MechCommander I always prefer a laser to something with ammo <_<

Back to work

Far as I know....No coolant flush.....if someone puts 4 ERPPCs in a mech with 10 single heatsinks. they deserve to fry <_<

On a similar note. Will we have a shutdown override here?

Press the 'O' key. <_<

We currently have no plans to include coolant flushes at the moment.

Glad Paul clarified the "O" key. Even in the novels, shutdown override was mentioned. It's cannon after all <_<

Bless ye for that, PGI.

The only way I'd want coolant flushing in MWO is if they took the form of one-shot Coolant pods from tabletop, which take up tonnage, crits and can explode like ammo if hit by enemy fire.

You can always load the ol' legs with heat sinks and stand in a bathtub.

you mount these things called heat sinks, they dissipate heat over time, if you over whelm your heat sinks you shut down and someone shoots you in the face and laughs as you die. thats is TT rules, that is all.

MW4 tactic #42: If it can be done from the river, then it should be done from the river.

Thanks for the info <_<

That way I know that I have to be careful with alpha strikes. Good thing is: If you mount energy-only weapons there is no ammo that could explode when overheating.
Gosh, I miss piloting a BattleMech! August 7, hurry up!

Except that heavy lasers aren't in the game yet. Now large lasers...

Then you might want to get something other than the Trench Bucket since it is very much an ammo based mech. The lasers are there mostly to ward off mechs that get close so it might not have enough beam crits to mount a large laser/ppc.

Yay! Mechwarrior 4 really messed this up so I'm glad you're going back to the roots.

If it can fit two med lasers in one location, it can fit a large. Now a PPC I'm not sure about

Maybe I am in the minority here, but I actually enjoyed the option of using coolant.

In MWLL, I like using it with MASC when I need that little extra boost to get behind cover.

I honestly can't remember exactly how it was easy to abuse in MW4, but it doesn't seem
to last long enough to be abused in MWLL.

You can put them in once you populate the maps with ammo reloading facilities. :D
