Back in 2012, module slots were used as a balancing mechanic. There were several instances of mechs receiving 1 module slot and even a few cases where a variant would receive 3 module slots.

In the last year and a half, that philosophy seems have to gone out the window. Every single mech released in 2013 and 2014 have come equipped with 2 module slots with the exception of the Spider 5V, that came with 3.

The game has evolved quite a bit and many of these mechs that were limited to 1 module slot have no where close to the power they had 2 years ago. I ask you to do a pass on these 1-MS mechs and bump them up to the standard 2 MS. This is particularly relevant since every single clan mech comes equipped with the 2 MS.

Here is a list of mech variants that have only 1 MS:
  • Jenner-7F
  • Hunchback-4P
  • Catapult-K2
  • Awesome-8R
  • Stalkers (all of them)

That is kind of a short list. Seven Mechs outta how many?

Jenner and Stalkers I'd say are justified.

Hunch, Awesome and Catapult could of course use another.

Those are all the 1-module slots mechs and It's 10 variants if we're counting. All the rest come with either 2 module slots or 3, which is why it doesn't really make sense to keep these mechs at 1 module slot.

I agree. Some, perhaps most, of those made sense at the time. But they no longer do, especially in the face of the Clan Mechs all having 2 module slots.

Sure, why not.

In fact - give the Awesomes 3.

Why would they do this when they are reworking the whole system?

Change the whole Module system by breaking it down some more.

Support Module slots
Weapon Module slots
Consumable Module slots

Overall, more slots, but only Advance Sensor can go in a Support slot. Only one of the useless weapon mods can go in a Weapon slot, etc.

Some mechs get lots of one type of slots and few of other. Variety!

because it would take 5 minutes to change and we have no time frame on when said rework is due out.

Ok 10 outta how many? Some have to be poor choices for Modules. I mean some times stuff sucks. Its the nature of the verse.

PGI said they were completely overhauling the module system.

Doesnt make sense to waste effort changing module slot numbers just to change the whole module system later on...

If it was consistently applied to specific variants in 2013 and 2014 I would agree, but they simply stopped doing it shortly after closed beta. They standardized every new mech to have 2 module slot and a handful old models languished.

If I had to make a guess, I would say that around the start of 2013, PGI decided that they eventually wanted to update the module system so in the meantime they just gave everything identical MS. However, as time passed they weren't able to get to it. Now we have these weird legacy outliers that need modernizing to reflect the current state of the game.

I don't see it as needed. It is to small a percentage of populace. What some feel is a need is another mans want. I have a Stalker on my Anton Alt. I have no modules at all. It does not stop me from having good games, or fun in general. I don't see a NEED, to change it.

Module slots arnt going to balance anything anyway. Take a module slot away from the Dragon Slayer and its still one of the top 3 mechs in the game. Its just not spamming artillery now.

Since other changes don't seem forthcoming, why not give Awesomes 10 module slots?

Artillery and Airstrikes + the accuracy modules + increased radar range + increased zoom + seismic sensors!

So it's a matter of power creep then? Old (in MWO) mechs get shafted while newer mechs become more and more powerful?

Its going to happen anyway have you seen 3055 and 3058 models? And Modules are meant to be all that, a perk maybe but the end of usefulness??? It seems exaggerated to me.
