FYI: I downgraded my GPU

PLEASE REMEMBER NO CHANGES TO DISPLAY QUALITY IN GAME NOR SCREEN RESOLUTION WERE MADE, NO SYSTEM CHANGES WERE MADE.

I did a straight graphics card downgrade (Pull out 1, put in the other).... So:

I was using 2 MSI AMD R9 290X 4 Gig Graphics Card and this was my
performance:
  • Max FPS 170
  • Sustained FPS 40
  • Min FPS 15
  • Driver Version 9.14.10.01044
  • DX version: 9 and 11 tested
I SWITCHED to an MSI AMD 7980 3 Gig Graphics card
  • Max FPS 170
  • Sustained FPS 120
  • Min FPS 50
  • Driver Version: 9.14.10.01044
  • DX version 9 and 11 tested.
When the game is running the 7980 is kicking the R9 290xs arse -- and it really shouldn't!

If you are running an R9, I think there is either something wrong with the firmware or the Driver.

Might be due to your SLI-configuration. I run a Xeon 1231v3 paired with a PowerColor R9 280X TurboDuo OC and I experience hardly any framedrops and get stable 60FPS due to V-Sync. Slightly lower with DX11, then its around 55FPS.

I think its a problem with your SLI configuration.

AMD GPUs do no use SLI, they use crossfire and this test was with only 1 GPU -- when testing you limit the variables -- so X-fire is not a factor. Again I made NO changes to the game config just a direct video card swap to demonstrate that something strange is happening.

I believe in this instance my sig is accurate.

I'm convinced that they hired a potato to do the optimizations for AMD cpus/cards. I did a straight CPU (and mobo) upgrade and am getting worse fps (especially when trying to use crossfire by adding a second GPU.) Went from AMD 4 core 2.something GHZ to 6 core 3.2GHz Phenom II and a radeon HD 5770 (I also added a second but found better performance with one, 30 fps with xfire up to 50-60 without.) I am beyond the point of caring anymore after spending hours trying to fix it and get my head wrapped around why the f^*& this is even possible.

try right clicking on the catalyst icon in the system tray, it will list more gpus than you have the top 1 is your card, try changing some settings there.i set mine to optimal and high performance.

i wouldn't call changing your video card a 'workaround' :)
