Return the IS/Clan parity a little bit. Clans still have an overwhelming range advantage, so why not give IS a slight advantage up close with better heat efficiency.

I absolutely agree. Mind you, I've felt it was time to pull the IS SL/ML back in heat for a very long time now.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I made this exact same post about 6 months ago. Brawling weapons have needed a bump forever.

Yes.

ML and SL were originally nerfed prior to hit detection being fixed, so PPC's and Gauss were largely un-usable for most players, and the most powerful mech in the game was the Hunchback 4P.

At this point in the game's development, it makes sense to restore them to their original values.

For those who are not familiar with this change, the ML originally had 3 heat, and the SL originally had 1 heat.

Medium Laser = decrease from 4 to 3 heat
Small Laser = decrease from 2 to 1 heat
IS SRM and IS SSRM2 = increase from 2.15 and 2.0 respectively to 2.5 damage per missile

This would help out mediums greatly. Especially the IS SRM damage. Because they weigh twice as much as Clan SRMs, giving them 25% more damage isnt too much to ask for.

SRMs should also get 144 ammo per ton. Since 144 is divisible by 2, 4, and 6 and is close to the 50% increase all other ammo using weapons received. SRMs for some reason didnt get this ammo increase.

And these changes would serve to buff IS brawling specifically, further differentiating IS and clan mechs. Be a huge IS Light/Medium buff mostly, and one in think would do the game a great deal of good.

Patchwork changes don't get undone. Not the ones it makes the most sense to undo, anyway...

There is too much agreement on this change.
It can never be allowed to happen.

Don't forget the MPL! It's still 0.6 heat too high.

Heck, you could probably drop it to 3 and it would still be underwhelming.

Like hell, I used to guasscat like a mother. PPCs were too hot in the days of SHS only.

Mediums got nerfed because of hunchbacks, as did small and engine limits because we were running around in 120kps 9 slas -4Ps welding off arms.

its so hard to think of Awesome's being awesome.

Seriously, though, this situation is indicative of why NERF THIS! cries due to a specific mech's load out are flat out bad for the game. PGI ends up making some sweeping change that neuters that specific build, but does lasting harm to everything else... And those changes persist long after the need for them is gone.

We got Ghost Heat because 6PPC Stalkers. Awesome's received their final coffin nail here, because of course ghost heat had to include lasers too.

Now they are considering extending the 2-max alpha for Gauss to include PPC's... This basically removes the need for Ghost Heat, but no... Ghost heat will continue breaking all sorts of other builds like the dreaded 3LL mechs.

Sorry, I get grouchy about Band-**** that are never removed.

4 heat would be fine for the ML instead of 5

Also there's the issue of the Gauss charge up time...
