At this time only the Kitfox C RA is in the game, but the LA is missing.
The entire layout is also not in the game since PGI has not added A-Pods, or possibly does not intend to.
There are also some other Clan Alt. Configs that used A-Pods, so it could be an opportunity to simply add A-Pods to the game.
Now obviously they are an true anti-infantry weapon in BT when conventional ground infantry got too close or tried to ambush a 'Mech, but since MWO will never have infantry, adding A-Pods to the game could be a unique opportunity to add special leg mounted weaponry.
How it could be made to work:
- Make A-Pods slottable on the legs of a Clan Mech
- Make them a one-shot type weapon (can be reused/is refilled for your next battle)
- Shoots shrapnel/grenade like weapon in a radius around your Mech
- Graphical effect showing projectiles shoot out in a radius around you, up to 6 damage per A-Pod, per individual enemy 'Mech in that radius (could be tweaked if they are too weak) at leg height (in actuality if anything is close to you, their legs will get damaged)
Situations where you might use it:
- Drive-by legging!
- When you're surrounded, could be used as last resort
- or other

So, A-Pods

I say they add A pods and buff them beyond there anti infantry original use. Kinda like they did for mg's
say they only have a ten meter blast radius, still would be useful if you are getting leg humped by another light mech.

The A-pod quandary had me thinking too. A-pods have mass, yet, in every MW game, that tonnage is neither used, or freed up. If memory serves me correctly, they functioned like a 5-shot claymore mine (Google "Claymore Mine") on each leg. I know it'd get all the non - Clan mech owners screaming "OP!", but give us our tonnage if you want this game to really be the most accurate MW game ever!
Options to replace the A-pods with some sort of "anti-light mech" claymore mine-type weapon was one option, but I also thought about a single use smoke screen, or as a temporary (30 second) droppable missile decoy or ECM, or even a single use (per leg) deployed landmine.

Suicide packs like in MW4 LOL! I got nailed by a pilot Bin Laddy In mech warrior 4 with a suicide pack charge!

Or just do something quick and dirty like just making A-Pods count as a bit extra leg armor.

I don't know about the leg charges but we could use more arm modules with ECM capability.

MG's in BT did originally do damage to Mechs though, and basically anything else in range.
An A-Pod was purely for anti-infantry (unlike an MG), but in the interest of adding Clan Mechs that have it (rather than skipping over those variants and Mechs) it might be an interesting addition to simply make it do damage to Mechs like that yes.
As an example of another clan Mech with A-Pods -> Some people have expressed that they want the "Hellbringer" for instance, and unfortunately with PGI's "3 mech rule" the ones they could add are:
Hellbringer Primary (4 A-Pods, 2 per leg)
Hellbringer Alt. Config A
Hellbringer Alt. Config B
