I did a search for this issue with no joy.

A fast friendly light runs through a large group of enemy mechs and in the process launches a UAV right in the middle of them and then runs off.

Now all friendlies can see the enemy mechs but can only damage them using lrms, wrong.

Target your own UAV with an artillery strike and fire. The strike will drop straight down below the UAV.

It works, enjoy.

Interesting.

It uses the coords of the UAV to drop the smoke canister, since its an object and if you target a mech/object (looking right at it instead of the ground) and hit the button, it drops the smoke below them, so it does the same thing with a UAV.

I supposed this might be fixed eventually, but it seems like something thats being exploited.

Smoke can be seen on the ground, directly below the UAV. I tried it on training grounds, Caustic Valley, in the open. Launched a UAV right next to the catapult then ran away in a spider back far enough to shoot the UAV with my arty strike. Smoke appeared right next to the catapult. Also tried it many times without the UAV, doesn't work when fired into the air. This might explain some of the butt kickings I've received by serious premades.

Wow, using data from a UAV to target artillery and airstrikes?

Inconceivable!

It's nice to see these kinds of threads!

Thanks for sharing!

*Now we just need someone to post a video of an arty using this doing tremendous damage ;) *

When you put it that way it dosnt actually sound like a bug that is being exploited at all.

Usually all it takes is ONE of these threads to get PGI to LEAP into action and fix it, sometimes in the very next patch.

For the stuff that actually matters, though... well...

Post #5 I'm guessing you didn't either read the post or comprehend the issue. It has "nothing" to do with the data from the UAV. But hey you still look cool anyway. BS
