I mentioned this in a dev Q&A a long time ago and was told it would be considered. I'd like to re-introduce it.

I think this would help experienced players, as well as new players, in quicker communication.
The mini map is too small to help calling out coordinates when spotting. Going to the battlegrid is not always much help, even when already fairly familiar with the map. Taking the time to spot, consult the battlegrid, hit "Y" and type out your spot info often means outdated info, as well as often inaccurate.

If we could add on the left side of the reticule, opposite spotted distance, the map coordinate at that spotted distance, it would improve communications immensely, especially in the area of speed, but also accuracy of the info. If I can look at the reticule and put it on the ground below a mech, on the mech itself, or on a structure and know what grid coord it is (letter/number, not X/Y coord), then it is a much quicker matter to hit "Y" and "C3" to get the info out.

This is what I'd like to see (smaller of course):

Quick and easy, accurate info.

The next stage of this that I'd like is the ability to put out a HUD marker to your lance or team. Hit ___ button and an arrow marker is shared on the HUD, not just the battlegrid map. That enables navigation without looking away. Preferably each unit could drop one, lance/team commander could drop multiple. Or only lance commanders, giving some motivation to be a lance commander, a role no one seems to take.
Something like this would show on the HUD:

Amazing ideas, marker could be really helpful with people who never look on map :)

Yes! Especially since I usually call out the wrong coordinate as I fumble with the big map.

brilliant!

Company commander should be able to place those for all 3 lances from the map or cockpit reticle.

Lance commanders should be able to place for their lance

The placement of the indicator could be lower and to the side to block less of your forward view but I love the idea. It could also eventually be implemented to help with information warfare. Click a key, type a number and text or Betty announces...3 mechs grid c-4.

Possibilities are limitless.

Making the spot marker a bright color initially fading out to darker colors would be a cool way to indicate how old the intel is too.

Sweet ideas Def, I'll gladly take more situational awareness tools, if maps grow this will only help in the tactical situation.

Bumpity, Bump, bump.
