I am fuzzy on this area and I have too many questions for the simple one question area. Ok I needed more ammo for my 5 gun Mech so I figured if I worked up through Elite I would get a speed tweak, I could then go in and buy a smaller engine and free up a ton for more ammo. I worked my butt off and got master for one Mech only to find out that won’t work.

Maybe Spike Brave could do a Tutorial on the weapons/Mech load-out area.

Try this guide on youtube:

Edit: I'm assuming your particular problem has to do with Critical Slots. Each 'Mech has a limited number of slots in each component (components being head, center torso, left torso, right torso, right arm, left arm, left leg, and right leg), so you can only put so many items in your mech. If you ran out of critical slots, you won't be able to add anything else even if you have spare tonnage.

Edit edit: You can also use the browser-based Smurfy mechlab to put builds together before you attempt to create the build in-game. It's also got a ton of good information about the various mechs/weapons/items in the game.

also lowering an engine by a ton can have numerous other effects, such as reducing your ability to hold an extra heatsink in that mech; if you drop from a 300 to a 290 you'll find yourself one heatsink short and if you have DHS on it you'll need 3 crits free to replace that DHS, plus need a free sot for whatever you wanted to add with the extra available weight you worked so hard to free up (plus the engine is damn expensive)

Yeah, you need about 7 tons of ammo to make that work (maybe even 8 depending on how trigger happy you are.)

This build /could/ work for you.

JM6-DD

Edit you can remove the 1.5 tons of ammo in the cockpit and CT and add AMS instead.

Keep in mid, I put the 0.5 in the CT because ammo consumption goes head ->CT->left Side torso->right ST->Left arm->right arm->left leg->right leg. So there's no risk in putting the half ton of ammo in your CT. You'll chew through it quickly.

I have two double heat sinks and a 245xl so that did the trick and I took off the FF armor

Sounds good.

I assume you already know this, but if you want to save weight, Endo steel is the best weight saver. The build I slapped around did have FF, but that's not necessary.

Hey Iraqi, just to let you know, head ammo is actually used dead last. Source.

Hey Siri,

Whether we get selectable ammo draw is up to design and their priorities for getting stuff into the game. I can't really answer for them. Ammo draw ordering is fixed for all mechs and independent of faction. It's presently: Center Torso -> Right Torso -> Left Torso -> Right Arm -> Left Arm-> Left Leg -> Right Leg -> Head. No exceptions are intended, so if the the draw ordering is any different from that it's a bug.

Interesting. Good to know, and thanks for the heads up.
