been playing for 2 years. all of a sudden desyncing like CRAZY. its not my interwebs. fix pls

I bet it's got something to do with players reconnecting to other virtual servers on the same physical server. PGI Obviously hosts multiple virtual servers on the same physical server. I bet something like this is occuring. Server A starts a game and checks for a list of available ports on the physical server and assigns them to players connecting. Server B starts a game and generates its own list and assigns them. Player A from Server A disconnects and tries to reconnect. Since server A's available port data is out of date it assigns a port that is actually used by player B in server B. Player B is desynced as the port is no longer valid. After a certain amount of time server B has some sorta automated script run that assigns the Player B a new port number and he is able to resync to the server.

I am not exactly sure if this is the problem but it certainly feels like it could be. My knowledge on UDP and/or TCP is sorta limited.

This is from a few patches ago.


But if this is the De-Sync you're speaking of... it's been really getting to me as well. I typically experience it in at least 1 match every single day. Sometimes as many as 3 matches. Considering I only get in about 8 matches a day anymore, that's a pretty high rate.

Just quit a match where everyone experienced severe lag and then a full on desync. How do I know everyone in the match experienced this? Because I was having a great match before it started going full spastic, and hoping it might recover I stayed on for a few minutes, and could read their very colorfully worded chat messages as the server spewed them up occasionally as it struggled to catch up in spurts and bursts.

FWIW, I have never had these massive lag/desync issues before it started two patches ago (rejoin feature patch).

Unplayable and frustrating. PGI, this needs to be addressed asap.

We're continuing to monitor the improvements made in yesterdays patch, we've seen some improvement but not as much as we would have liked to have seen so we'll likely look at taking another pass on server side performance no ETA currently though.

yesterdays improvements? really? id really like to know what is considered an improvement these days.

no ETA great news, make your game reliable for your CUSTOMERS before more cockpits items mk?

Can you look at the line of code for reconnects and making sure the server is pulling a current list of ports being used? If it is using a list generated when the server starts the game then this could explain why only one player is being affected in a lot of situations. The issue seems to have surfaced with this feature. I know machine guns have been desyncing the server for quite some time before the reconnect feature was implemented. It never happened this frequently though and in such a way that it only affected one player.

Not sure of what improvement you made, my experience hasn't change. So we got a FPS game that desyncs, with damage that may or may not register and aspires to be competitive. Oh and our premium time keeps running.

More games where targets kept ruberbanding, or I was attacked by a mech that wasn't there.

I've had 2 absolute desyncs today, about 10 to 15 seconds worth of me running around wondering why no one else is then I warp WAY WAY back to an old position and end up dead.

I am not sure if this is the same issue but the frequency in which my client freezes up has increased greatly. Tabbing out and then back in remedies the situation unfortunately in the time it takes to do this my mech ends up all over the place.

I too have been experiencing this for a while now (meaning months where I'd see this often in matches).

It's been worse recently (about at least a week or so) for me, and I didn't see a difference from the recent patch (July 29, 2014).

I killed 5 Mechs in my Shadowhawk. I was shure I made my "Komet". ....I couldn t make a screenshoot because i lost sync and never got the Screen where it Shows the damage. After 10min Walking and waiting i Disco and my mech was ready directly. My Kill Statistik was raised by 7 kills. B4 the last patch I had 1 Disco in 2 month. Now I haveone every 5 games....Öhmmm something is terribel broken.

Yep, ran 3-4 solo que matches this morning and all 4 de-synched mid battle and everyone was just walking in place and firing lasers.

Finally gave up, closed out of MWO and loaded up Counterstrike GO.

It to me seems to be worsening ever since the recent patch we had. Maybe the rejoin fucntion hasnt tested properly before it went live because before that patch happened it was rarely occuring and now its like 5 games i did solo in a row i was seeing so much rubberbanding and desyncing and I am in California. usually 90 to 100 ms but now its ugly.

I can relate to other people posting here. I experience at least 2-3 de-syncs daily. Sometimes quiting the match and rejoining it helps but it still doesn't matter as my mech usually gets destroyed by the time i reconnect.

More desyncing today. Sometimes it recovers, others not.

Desyncs all the time since the last two patches...game is absolutly broken at the moment. The days before these two patches i had desyncs and disconnects one in a month. Since the two patches: EVERY MATCH DESYNCHS.... think the universe is tellin me to take a brake from mwo ;-)

I thought I was imagining things but others have started mentioning it too. I will get attacked by invisible mechs, I see their weapons fire, but it generates from an empty point in space.
