As a veteran player who sometimes drives trial mechs on stream I find that many of the
builds currently used on them are very out of date for the current state of the game. So I
am taking it upon myself to make some new suggestions. I feel that updating these trial mechs
is very important as a new players willingness to continue playing will be much higher if they
actually get to play in a mech that to put it frankly does not suck.

Another thing to consider would be giving Trial mechs modules that fit their build, but seeing as how this is not an option I have not included suggestions for this.

Things to consider for Trial mechs for new players updated builds to fit current weapon
choices.

Different Descriptions
Brawling
Sniping
Jumpsniping

Basically give a brief role description of how the mech would be played.

For example in League or Dota or Teamfortress, a new player is given an idea of
what their particular champion is useful for. In MWO currently there really is not much
of a description past light, med, heavy, assault. These baseline descriptions can be
deceptive to a new player. This is because many of the mech weights can be used in
different roles depending on loadout. Below are some new player friendly builds for a few
of the champion mechs currently offered. My plan is to make several possible builds for all
of them at some point but to get us started here are some builds for the FS9-S(C), JNR-F(C),
and the HGN733C(C). I have included both a smurfy link to the builds as well as typed it
out. I am also going to start a poll on whether the community thinks the builds need to be updated or not.

I like the idea; the only possible issue is that the meta can shift in terms of what is considered functional. PGI would have to be willing to keep the trial 'mechs updated, if necessary, otherwise one might end up with a machine that is months out of date, thus presenting a new player with an inaccurate picture of what works.

Overall, the idea of more functional machines for new players is a very good one. Thank you for taking the time to put this together - you've got my vote!

Agreed. Some good builds there a step in the right direction. The worst part of MWO in my opinion is the new player experience. Anything that can help guide our green PUGs towards good habits and learning how the game is played I am all in favor of.

The new players who are not willing to get on Teamspeak or don't know about it to learn basic builds ant tactics have a VERY steep learning curve. Combined with the grind needed to master a mech and actually make it viable I am sure a lot of people just give up before they understand how deep and interesting the combat is.

Some serious adjustments need to be made to make this game more enjoyable as a new player it benefits everyone to have more people playing. The community has done quite a bit to help but PGI really needs to take a long look and see what they can do to keep bringing in and keeping new mechwarriors.

Even just making it so that they can do some damage at each range level would be good. Like for the cent having an ac10, an lrm10, and 2 medium lasers is a better way to test the mech than the current srm heavy loadout.

I believe the trials should be updated and have their own Tab. Please get them out of our Owned Mechs Tab! When you have 11 mechs like I do, you do not need the extra clutter of all these damn trials in the way.

G'day all. I've been waiting for an opportunity like this. For each of the current champions I have supplied 3 different builds at varying ease of use. i.e easy is new player friendly while medium is for those that understand the game a little better while hard builds are more challenging/funny. The medium build is ideally the most versatile. The lighter mechs have less variation in build due to more specific roles. If the existing champion was particularly good, it was included, however, I would adjust the armour values on almost all of them. Finally, these are builds that I find fun and would recommend to others but are not necessarily completely min maxed in every way.

SDR 5K (C)
Easy: 1xERLL 4xMG, XL255, 2JJ Existing champion is fine
Medium: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...a27b5992af615e8
Hard: 1xAC10 1xSL, STD100, 1xJJ Had to find a third build, why not an Urbie for accessible trolling?

JR7 F (C)
Easy: 5xML, XL300, 3xJJ Better heat to avoid shutdowns
Medium: 6xML, XL300, 1xJJ <3 <3 <3
Hard: 6xSPL, XL300, 1xJJ Had to find a 3rd build. Dat range though

FS9 S (C)
Easy: 5xML, XL295, 3xJJ, 2xAMS Just a better version of current champion
Medium: 6ML. XL295, 1xJJ, 2xAMS
Hard: 2xERLL, XL295, 2xJJ

CDA 2A (C)
Easy: 6ML, XL300
Medium: 6xML, XL340 Existing one is fine
Hard: 2xERLL, 2xML, XL300

BJ 1 (C)
Easy: 2xPPC, 2xML, XL235, 1xJJ
Medium: 1xAC20 3xML, XL235, 1xJJ existing is fine
Hard: 1xAC20 2xML, STD210, 1xJJ

CN9 A (C)
Easy: 3xASRM4 2xML, STD275 Better version of current
Medium: 3xASRM6, 2xML, STD255 full zombie cent
Hard: 1xGauss 2xMPL, XL275

HBK 4P (C)
Easy: 6xML, STD275
Medium: 9xML, STD260 Close enough as is
Hard: 9xSPL, STD260 Partyback of course

SHD 2H (C)
Easy: 1xLPL 3xSSRM2 3xMG, XL350, 2xJJ
Medium: 1xPPC 2xAC5, XL255, 2xJJ Good enough as is
Hard: 1xLBX10 1xML 3xSSRM2 2xMG, XL300, 1xJJ

Will work on Heavies and Assaults later
