Just popping in to say that I am a Centurion pilot myself. I own and have mastered the CN9-AL and I run it with full armor, the biggest XL engine in can fit since what kills me more often than anything in my cent is my CT anyway, and as far as its weaponry I have it running 2 streak SRM 2s, 2 medium lasers, and 2 PPCs. It gives the mech some pretty extensive firepower for a mech of its weight class and a good striking range as well. I like it so much I'm honetly not certain why I've never seen anyone else discover this build as I have.

I'm very hesitant with XLs on the Centurion. It packs a nice punch, but I find that it goes down way too easily. Also, limiting yourself by tonnage can still spawn quite interesting loadouts.

I like this one for an AL STD: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...b53207fa54b7430

The only CN9 I ran with an XL was the D

I've been running an XL275 in my CN9-AL for the longest time, with 2SRM6, 2ML, LPL. Brawls well! Decent heat efficiency and ammo load thanks to the weight saving from the XL.

The engine cap of 390 makes running XL very appetizing. I fail to find a build that puts it to good use though. XL350 would probably be the highest I would ever reasonably go.

This thread right here, is why I'm thinking of trying to run "Super Stocks" in the Pub Queue. Stock Weapons loadout, but upgraded armor and Sinks. Possibly Engine too, but the primary idea is to run stock weapons. So far, I've found it a lot of fun, and nowhere nearly as punishing as Pure Stock in the Pub Queues.

I have mine with an XL340 - 120+kph, 2 MGs, 2 SRM4s, 2 MLas - it's really fun even if you do get out-gunned by lights at that speed :-)

Try this. AC2, 2 ML, 2 SSRMs, and BAP. This has been the most fun loadout of the D for me. http://mwo.smurfy-ne...6fe893ed40fad85.

Mine was 4ML/2ASRM6, max engine. My fave Cent (dubious distinction, mind)

Almost Basic'd the Yen-Lo. What I've learned thusfar:

1. I mastered a Boomjack before Boomjacks were cool (or Champions)... this is nothing like a Boomjack

2. Bigger mech with no jumpjets.... is actually more comfortable than I thought it'd be. I've got an xl300 in it, so it's like the awkward illegitimate child of a BJ-1 and -1X (no jumpy but goes 90+). The only real caveat is the low slung arm, but eh...

3. Wang jokes got thoroughly old two years ago. :D

4. Despite what some bitter forum-ites will tell you, not the worst hero for me by far. Of course not my strongest performer either, but in this fluffy fanboy endeavor I'm really liking Yen-Lo-Wang. (Rereading the Warrior trilogy and Stackpole always italicizes names of mechs and ships ;) ).

I have the same bipolar experience with the YLW that other's have described however. A 430 xp match followed immediately by a 3,859 xp match, both with Gauss and a 20. My wife leaned into my "office" (that's her term, sounds more grownup I guess. It's more of a nerd-boy-fan-cave that happens to have office like work done on it's computer equipment occasionally) , and said "Hey honey, can yo-" I cut her off with a wild eyed, frantic yell "Call me Kai!!" :o Then snapped back into reality.
After that match (did poorly... plot armor wasn't working for some reason), I put the AC/20 back in and starting emulating a Solaris announcer... but quietly.

Good to be back in the saddle after working out of town for a few weeks

Got impatient, sold off a few spare chassis to scalp an extra 3-mill. (Shawk 2D2, CDA-2B, couple'a others.... about 14 clan med pulse), and snagged a CN9-D.

And am now baffled. Heh. Played wiht the engine cap for abit in testing grounds. 385xl, 2x mGuns, 2x Streaks, 2x mLas... buuut
think I'll run this one super stock as well.
280xl
1x LRM5 + Art
2x mLas
annd the kicker:
2x AC/5 to replace the AC/10

;) let ya know how it goes

I never really took the XL300 out of mine.
Tried a few other engines, but kept going back to the 300.

Of course now, that is the only Centurion I have been able to make work with any XL, but that is another story.

I hope you're as excited as I am with the CN9-AH coming?

Bro, that's what finally tipped my scales to spend just a little cash on MC. Gonna save said MC in case they make a Locust hero or TDK goes on sale again.

Yessss. B) I still remember the dust kicked up when they removed it from the lineup the first go round. Didn't mean much to me at the time, not being a Cent pilot.. but now getting back is an awesome love note.

CN9-AH. The only other Centurion aside from the YLW that can mount an AC 20 in the right arm (if memory serves, it has 3 ballistic hardpoints in the right arm, and three missiles in the left torso. No energy though.)

I guess I should give a try and try to master them too, since CN9-AH is coming free
