From the patch notes`:

"...had some of the high competitive players look at it...

Well there`s your problem!

Your competitive players looked at your changes in their meta heavies and assaults and said its OK. Meanwhile us in the lights and mediums prepare our vasaline....

That`s like asking a race-car driver what is wrong with your scooter. It`s like asking your fighter jet pilot what`s wrong with the passenger liner. Like asking a chef what`s wrong with your dog`s kibble.

If PGI want`s a balance of mechs on the field, then they should consult the public in general. I have seen more games put in the crapper by companies taking the advice of the `competitive` players.

Actually, the competitive players don't even know who these"competitive players" were. They've also not been aproving teh heavy handed nerfs just like the any others.

I think the real issue is that high level players will be able to adjust to whatever nerf bat you swing. So they don't complain and simply change their builds and tactics. Most of them have 100+ million CBills to play with anyway.

Your average player however will have a hard time with massive changes like this. PGI should ask their main revenue source on whether some of these things are good or not.

You realize PPCs were nerfed right? Like, majorly so against light mechs?

I think that`s exactly my point. But I guess these changes are easier then dealing with instantaneous convergence.

Well not really for adders and kitfoxes. Again, a `competitive` player will just adjust to the projectile speed difference.

No, it's not, you're over reacting. Unfortunately like a lot of other forum goers. You are assuming that these 'competitive' players did only choose their meta 'Mechs. By the way, I'm pretty sure there's lights and mediums up there in the meta anyway.

Consulting with this forum regarding balance changes is ridiculous for a team like PGI. Will they get a straight answer? No. Will they get an answer based on what's best for the overall game, or just what seems fun for the guys that have been here awhile? Have you not seen the forums go bonkers over balance changes?

Thats not true. Looking at individual posts can be that way but if you look at the overall direction, tone and views of discussion of all the posts you find the sweet spot. I am just getting annoyed with my impression that PGI balances weapons based on the heavy and assault metas, ignoring mediums and lights and the impact those changes have on them....

Jump jets for instance,
Fall damage for instance

... what?

This was one of the biggest steps in the right direction towards balance that I can recall. I was expecting them to be working with House of Lords or Steel Jags or whatever hotshot gamers are the cream of the crop Power Rangers these days.

You're telling me none of the top teams know anything about it? Or are they not allowed to talk about it, for some stupid reason?

NGNG ACES is probably them. In which case, the actual comp community don't really consider them comp

Both Steel Jags (Steel Jags did say they might have been responsible due to something they said to the devs apparently) and Lords have said it wasn't them that tested these things. Steel Jag's during Jaeger's stream and in the original thread outlining these change said the changes were heavy handed on the CERLL.

I really have to laugh about who are the so called top players in MWO or the leet33 pilots without true leagues and stats to determine who is top dog or top team ? the answer is no one knows and at this point in game development and what's left of the player base who really cares? If PGI nerfs the game to death players will eventually leave and not come back hopefully they get it right soon.

Uh... the guys that keep winning tournaments are the top players. To pretend that there's no way of knowing is just silly. How do we know that Usain Bolt is the fastest man alive? Because he's winning world championships. There's no guy who's secretly faster than Usain Bolt, but can't be bothered competing.

I don't know that your average Joe is going to have a better opinion then the competitive players. And I think they do listen when the players post their threads. How do you choose from the large pool of forum goers and other average players? It's easier to take a direct consensus from the competitive players because they know exactly who they are and how good they are.

Just because they asked for the opinion of the competitive players. Doesn't mean they'll make a choice solely on it.

Also all these people who keep bashing the people playing comp. Stop putting plugs in your ears over what leagues exist. If we are so bad that you have to mock us, come show us up. Won't even be mad if you do, we'd welcome new challengers, somehow though...I don't see it happening. Who knows why I have that feeling...

YA but I don't see Usain Bolt using exploits to win races?
