Poster with advice:

Spoiler

Sorry if you were expecting some great work of art. I don't have any screenshots of someone using this Mech.

This advice is what I always tell to new players when I'm helping them. If you're gonna rely on PUG teams you're gonna be let down. A lot. You should always keep a level head and be ready to improvise. Never rely on your teammates to:
  • Stay in your area (Solution: pay attention to the minimap)
  • Giving you fire support (Solution: stay nearby your allies and be the nice guy who does give fire support)
  • Follow your plan (Solution: stay in a big blob and follow the heavy units)
  • Stay alive (Solution: If your teammate dies, pull back. Don't waste time helping corpse)
  • Follow you into battle (Solution: Don't be the first in battle, don't cower in fear)
  • Take advantage of your distraction (Solution: Don't distract the enemy)
  • Hold targets for your LRMs (Solution: Get your own TAG, find a buddy to spot for you, tell people you're a boat)
  • Protect you, even if you're a valuable asset (Solution: Stay near the team and put your well-being first)
  • Be brave (Solution: Step up as the leader, without violating the other things listed here)
  • Be strong (Solution: I'd say Jagerbomb, but thats 'overrated.' Use a high damage build)
  • Be rational (Solution: You be the rational one, let the idiots die [eventually you'll get smart teams])
  • Be cooperative (Solution: Just follow them)
  • Be kind (Solution: Handle yourself like a mature person [mature doesn't mean swear at them or tell bad jokes])
It may seem like I have wandered off track, but this all points back to being at your best. Eventually, one of two things should happen:
  • Your ELO gets high enough to get good teams
  • People respect you and you lead your team to victory, earning a higher ELO
If all else fails,
  • Buy a microphone
  • Download TeamSpeak 3
  • Go Here and connect to the Comstar Hyperpulse Network
  • Find people who will group with you and tech you.
Or, just find some buddies (I qualify if you aren't a jerk or whiner) and group with them. That puts your chances at winning much higher. This advice has worked for me on many occasions. Obviously there are gonna be matches where your team is too bad to save. But mostly, this works.

TL;DR: Don't trust your team, stay in mobile group (like a blob).

And for the love of gyro-overloads.. DO NOT SHOVE YOURSELF UP THE TAILPIPE OF YOUR TEAM MATES! They can't see you behind them even with the radar and if they need to throw their mech in reverse to escape critical damage.. if your nose is practically smelling their exhaust.. chances are you're going to get your mate slaughtered.

The only mechs you want to bump uglies with from behind is the opponent.

Interesting way of phrasing that. Other than that part, I totally agree with what you said.

Be kind (Solution: Never insult them)

Will I have to fix it in your post, or will you do it on your own?

A good advise:
- Never insult! Follow the Code of Conduct instead.
- Report violations to support.

Edit:
Thanks! That's better!

I think he meant if you have to insult someone, call them a surrat or something from lore. To "rationally" insult someone in this way would be acceptable as lore correct?

Sorry. Changed to "Handle yourself in a mature manner."

Surrat, stravag or freebirth would be fine. It's still better to not insult at all.

Actually I meant that if they're saying you should "die and rot in real life", point out that that is an insult an eight-year-old would use and tell them to act maturely. I did not mean you should stoop to their level.

And the advice: medium protects heavy and heavy protects assault mechs.
