Hello out there.
My old machine ( Core i5 750, nVidia GT-230 ) exploded a week ago for unknown reasons - it just would not show any sign of activity ( not even BIOS ). So I went to grab some new gear ( Core i5 4440, nVidia GTX745 ).
Too my surprise my framerates dropped significantly from a solid 30 fps (everything on low basically) to less than 20, sometimes even 10-15 fps, with a newer card! Which is unplayable.
The only thing that the 745 is worse than the 230 is the memory bandwidth ( pretty much half ).

Do you think that's the reason? Or could it be something else, like an issue with windows 8.1 (yeah, Í know)?
I know I could just put the old card in the new system to see how things are, but I am afraid I could fry the new one, given that i don't know what killed the old.
Suggestions, anyone?

Have you checked your driver and power settings? Somebody just went through something similar and figured it out http://mwomercs.com/...lp-improve-fps/

Please don't take this the wrong way.
Your GPU is for the lack of a better term.. "Garbage"(for MWO).
128 bit memory interface = not good

Good work... Always set power options to "High Performance"
Or whatever is applicable for Win 8 or any windows OS for gaming.

As for no sign of activity, have you tried a different PSU or checked the output with a voltmeter?

... getting life out of your old machine ...
Oh dear, you're right. I totally misread that. To my defense I was around 36h awake at the time of my post and I related the "no activity" thing to me not posting for several hours.
:/
As for the spare, no dice. I have just spotted a huge brown spot on the old mainboard featuring some nice exploded condensators. I really doubt this thing will ever spring to life again.
