I don't know how the lances are organized, but often assultmech groups are far out on the flanks, and have a very long march to catch up, on tourmaline they often start in that one spot where they have to march across a stretch of open ground usually under sniper or lrm fire.


It makes alot of sense to place the heavyier slower mechs in the center, it gives the team more freedom in how it can move becuase the slow guys aren't all off on one side, lowers the likleyhood of your friendly direwhale/fatlas never even making it to the group up point.
