Uh... no. Actually, that's bullshit. Your desire to play a mech that isn't in this game due to legal reasons has no meaning here.
"I want to play the Shadow Cat, but it's year 3050, so I'm FORCED to buy a lot of mechs I don't want." Nope!
"I want to play Optimus Prime, but this is Battletech, so I'm FORCED to get the Man O War Package." Nope!
"I want to be a level 60 Paladin, but this isn't World of Warcraft, so I'm FORCED to get the Highlander with Templar camo pattern." Nope!
You're not forced into anything, guy.

Excuse me, but this is bullshit.
See, this part I can empathize with. But I can't really think of a way to prevent everyone from just running 4 Dire wolves. And yeah, you can kind of balance that by having big maps, so they lose a lot of time moving into battle. But you just can't compare the efficiency of a 3-3-3-3 team and a team with 12 Dire Wolves, blasting their way through narrow canyons and gates.
Do you have any suggestions on how to make it work?

I am a heavy pilot, I chose that before I even played the game, after I read the role warfare description. I chose to be an heavy (and sometimes assault) command role pilot. Actually I'm mainly a marauder pilot and the TW is the closest thing I will get in the near future.
So I am forced to
- Play as clanner even though I am IS
- choose 3 mechs of which I don't play 2 weight classes because I'm not interested in them
If we had a thread somewhere where we as a community stored the most pathetic posts. I would 100% nominate this one.
Check your privilege bro.
You aren't mainly a marauder pilot, in fact I dare you to name the video games that you piloted a Marauder in. Do you mean you RP a heavy only Marauder pilot in your head and you are mad that the video game is not conforming to your personal fantasy?

I am not? So how am I gonna play my marauder, that has to be a timberwolf for the best version of it, as an IS player? How am I supposed to trim down a marauder to 60 tons? chopping off its arms and a leg?
Smartass some people play for a reason different than winning. I play for my marauder experience (which was greatly flawed with the recent nerfs to PPCs)

Which is excatly the reason I am forced to switch to clan. The timberwolf is the only mech that is properly suited for an rebuild in the game right now.
Alistair Winter, on 09 October 2014 - 09:14 AM, said:
No but you are forced to buy the thing nearest close to it to build a similar loadout.Even if its IS. Shadowcat is actually avaible since 3003, so you actually have a chance to ever see that mech in MWO.
Alistair Winter, on 09 October 2014 - 09:14 AM, said:
You are not forced to buy ****, it will be released anyways sooner or later. Build your optimus prime then. But you are then forced to play clan if you want to use it in CW.
Alistair Winter, on 09 October 2014 - 09:14 AM, said:
Not even related to MWO.
You want a solution? Really? Isn't it obvious? One pilot one weightclass, 3 of each class per match. MM is even build that way right now, if it can't be made loosen the restrictions. Done.

RP or not ******, I call the Mechwarrior 4 meceneries map pack 3.1 here. I don't care who made it. This game is here so that you can be whoever you want in BT with modern gameplay and graphics. If you say this is some mechs slaying each other, then no. There are a lot of people that wouldn't be here if this weren't BT.

Don't sweat it yet Johhny. We asked there be a special "John Wayne" snowflake mode where all guys/gals with John and Wayne in thier Pilots handles can play by themselves with whatever f'ing Mechs they want.
We are still awaiting a response from PGI though. Don't give up hope yet.

All I want is, that you don't take 4 random mechs. You take 4 random mechs of one weight class. Everything else forces people into mechs / classtypes they don't want. That is not just me, I saw it quite a lot before.
@Hoax415: I want to add, as.shat, that Russ said "CW is all about RP". So there you go you pathetic troll. Moreover, MWO is supposed to be some kind of sim. That means there is always RP involved. You are the pilot, not the mech.

One suggestion that came up in the massive thread where this was last discussed was to allow people to bring less than 4 mechs. That way they can bring 2xDire Wolves/2xAtlases plus a 40-tonner, or 3xTimber Wolves or 3xVictors. The Pros were that it allowed people the ability to focus on only heavier mechs if they wanted to and was more 'kind' to new players since they tend to buy three of the same chassis to get unlocks, and this would let them bring two or three mechs they have some skills on even if they weigh a bunch. The cons were that some of the pothential 3-mech drop decks were very powerful (potentially better than bringing a 4th mech would be), and some folks felt it wouldn't give enough incentive to play mediums and lights.
Right now, the clans CANNOT build a drop deck with two Dire Wolves or three Timber Wolves in it. Getting rid of the must-have-4-mechs rule would make both of those drop decks possible, but it also would give players more flexibility in what they can bring to a fight. If everyone in the game had ALL the mechs, then I probably wouldn't suggest getting rid of the 4-mech rule, but as it is, that rule will hit new players and players with small numbers of mechbays much harder than it hits those of us with 50+ mechs. They are going to get stuck using trials or non-mastered mechs while us nutjobs with huge numbers of mechs, all mastered, have more choices. Maybe we need to relax the 4-mech limit if you own less than 10 mechbays, or if you have less than 100 matches or something, just to help the nubs.

Was hoping this thread would prompt me to buy some mechs. Currently im just hording cbills until they figure out what I can actually bring to CW. I checked the Laio faction sale list JUST IN CASE they put faction restrictions on you or reward you for that, and bought a Banshee.
Besides the Banshee I have no idea what to spend my money on. I got 95 tons of 240 tons spoken for...
How would YOU fill it?
Im seriously at a loss.

Also keeps them from affecting CW. As well as gives them a reason to buy some mechs.

and why a tonnage limit why not by class of mech
reason I ask is lets say you have a 75 ton TW but your actual load out is 74.5 tons wound the TW still be considered 75 tons?

Hellbringer - For ECM and good firepower going through the gate.
Stormcrow - Clean up and fast strikes once inside.
Adder - Decent damage at range for a light, kind of last ditch when I get to this point though.
Timber Wolf - Because Timber Wolf.
Timber Wolf - Because TImber Wolf.
Stormcrow - Because Stormcrow.
Adder - Because 35 tons left.

I guess I'll go Adder/Nova/Stormcrow/Timberwolf for 215 tons so I can still claim to be a real clanner. Depending on how I like the Hellbringer I may even bring this down to 205 tons.
I'm pretty good in a Dire Wolf but it looks like I won't be using them in CW. 140 tons between 3 'mechs really puts me into two or three lights and I have two Adders I like to play with but my skill level isn't where it needs to be yet to be a fantastic light pilot and contribute as much as I'd like to in them.
I think I need to spend less time dropping in heavies and assaults and just rip the bandaids off and become a better pilot.
