Greetings all,

We currently have this MWO game residing in the 3049 timeline and soon to turn over to 3050.

Just what is happening on the Tech field for the next few years?
- What is listed in the timeline for introduction or fielding in these years?
- How many Devices, Mech's, Weapons do we see introduced within each year?
- At what timeline could we see PGI make a small time-jump and not have serious effects on what is called to happen in the Lore?

There are massive introductions of new Tech set for specific times, all following the Lore, normally corresponding to the next generation of BattleTech Manuals released for the Table Top. Just what do we see at each of these 'jumps' in Tech'?

Here's a short listing (3049-3065) of pertinent elements by year, only items that we could see in MWO, so ships, battle armour, and other non-game items are left out. This timeline Tech list covers the entire Clan Invasion and into the start of the Civil War Era.
(All of the linked items will take you to the Sarna listing for that item.)

** It's a big list, sorry. **

I wonder if sarna is listing the dates for r&d, prototype, production, and than general widespread production, sort of like how TW does. I think SSW has something like this in an .xls in it's document sub-folder.

Greetings,

Most of the research and development would be kept in secret or at least attempted to.

- Every Faction was still very competitive, and developing any systems that could be used against each 'at the time' enemy would be seen as a very high priority.
- None of the Factions or Manufacturing Company's would allow for development news to be released on there latest Tech, especially if there were 'issues' or problems. Were still talking of this BattleTech timeline and the economy and value of items still played a roll, even during the Clan invasion.
- Until an Item, weapon, Mech was ready for sale to other Factions or 'discovered' on the battlefield it didn't make the news. (quite a few 'items' were Faction specific and never offered for sale.)

Unless the books, or reference manuals specified how much development time was taken on new Tech, or the trials location, it would be somewhat difficult to compile a list.

TechManual tags the info and Solaris Skunk Werks has at least some of it in that file I mentioned in it's install directory - by no means was I complaining!

9erRed; specifically for you... and anyone else who is interested.

Not my work, not in the LEAST ... the guys that did SSW compiled this file. http://www.solarisskunkwerks.com/ for the program, in which you can find the documents folder in it's original format. I converted from the open office format to the .xls format. Here's the link for the .xls file: http://is.gd/1rlD2e ... again, all credit to the SSW team. virtually everything OTHER than the 'Mechs, tanks, etc. In other words, all the equipment is in this file. It not only has production dates, but extinction dates for lostech, production factions, R&D dates, Protype dates, and even cooler - per-era tech levels - or in other words, is it the dirt you trip over in a scrapyard, or something so awesome you didn't even think it existed... and availability levels. It even tells you what source book the current description came from.

Legend for some of the more obscure stats in the file content from the sarna wiki with a little bit of cleaning up of my own:

Availability Rating
A Very Common
B Common
C Uncommon
D Rare
E Very Rare
F Unique
X Unavailable

Rules Level, from basic (zero) to experimental (three)

Basic Rules
This level of play is only the most basic of the rules sets and does not include Infantry, or Combat Vehicles. Represents very common stuff.

Standard Rules
The Standard Rules are the level of rules that are used in most Tournaments and Official Games.
Represents stuff that isn't common, but isn't hard to find if you know where to look for it.

Advanced Rules
Advanced Rules Equipment is in production "in universe" but have rules too complex for Tournament Play.
Represents hard to find stuff. Some in the fictional universe might not know it exists.

Experimental Rules
Experimental Rules Equipment is being prototyped or has gone out of production. They are also considered rare and exotic technology which are considered to be not for use for Standard & Tournment game play.
Represents the bleeding edge. Lots of people wouldn't even know about this stuff, and even if they did, they wouldn't know how to find it, and if they could find it, they wouldn't have a snowball's chance in ... the bahamas ... of getting it.

BTW, lostech, for those who don't know, is the in-fictional-universe term for advanced tech that was made early on; and for a long time due to obscene total wars became all but irreplaceable (factories blown up, knowledge lost, etc). Thus the extinction/reintroduction dates on some weapons.

SSW is pretty awesome.

Nice effort, but there's quite a few flaws:

Coolant Pod: Experimental tech, it never entered mainstream production.
Laser Heatsink: Reduced to a fluff only equipment piece, it has no stats in TW or TacOps.
Black Python: It's not an OmniMech, it's a BattleMech.
Vapor Eagle: It's been around for nearly 200 years at this point, it first appeared in TRO3055 though.
Chemical Laser, ER pulse Laser, Streak LRM: All experimental tech that never saw mass production.

All the new toys that were introduced in the Clan Invasion era can be found in the masterunit list (which is official):
Clan Invasion mechs
