Let's see here...
>American
>Saw this happening live yesterday on an American news channel
>Read the story this morning in my city's newspaper

Hmmm, the claims don't check out jim.

Now, on to the important part. While it is a tragic occurence, the bigger problem is that this is the second attack. Remember the terrorist that ran over a pair of soldiers, killing one and injuring the other earlier this week before being shot to death by police? Chances are it's only going to continue for now, which is awful. I only hope military/police casualties can be minimized and that the jihadists don't start going after masses of civilians instead.

I didn't say I was pro or con. Hypothetically, I could have been cheering the police on.

I'm Sure why else would you bring it up ?

Maybe I don't think it's fair the police get a bad rap for keeping uppity minorities down.Maybe.

Many soldiers/veterans play the game, as well as those that respect the sacrifices that soldiers/veterans make, so I see no harm in someone posting a tribute to fallen heroes.

If that somehow offends you, then there's no need for you to click the topic, much less make such a reply.

I think the tribute is excellent and am glad to have seen it posted here.

I noticed this as well and actually really enjoy it. Both of the people I know that play this are also military (an old Army friend and his brother, both now officers) and I see usernames with references in every game.

Some thigns are bigger than a game though.....the trolling by one in this thread is irritating.

As most of you know there was an attack in Ottawa just yesterday, where a Canadian Reservist Soldier standing guard at the National War Memorial was shot and killed by a lone attacker who then fled and was later killed in our Parliament Buildings.

I thought that this Editorial Cartoon was brilliant and needs to be shared;

As sad as of a situation this Ottawa thing is, it isn't related to MWO...put it in an off-topic subforum. I get that there's a lot of former military here but it's not about being insensitive to world tragedies or whatever...it's about keeping the forum on topic.

Mass school shootings here in the US are probably a bigger tragedy and I don't think they should get a thread in the MWO General Discussion forum either.

Now that joke was at the expense of Green Mamba. Again the solemnity and forthrighness of this thread is not in question, merely it's placement is.

If he gets to post this then I get to post about Ferguson and Police Brutality. All I'm asking is why is this, as well meaning as it is, here in the general discussion board when it has nothing to do with the game and will be move to the off topic section anyhow. No need to get all nationalistic.

I simply did it out of respect. It's that simple.

I put it in General discussion to get it some recognition before someone chose to move it to "off topic" to disappear.

If you are a Canadian, how do you know how much coverage Americans get on your events? Clearly you dont know, since this has been on our national news since it occured. Keep your false generalizations to yourself please.

It's a nice sentiment, but should have been/be moved to 'off topic' nonetheless. This is a forum to discuss MWO, not real-world concerns.

Off topic or not, what happened In Ottawa was a tragedy and even if indirectly effects us all. It doesn't belong on page two. This is the most viewed section of the forum and awareness is important, MechWarrior related or not

And btw... a crisp salute and sincere thank you to the Soldiers here.

So do all tragedies get to be in the general discussion forum now?
