I can't seem to find anything recent in the forums. I understand how we earn loyalty points, but what are they used for again?

Complete and utter speculation here:

Discounts on faction-specific-ish gear and mechs would be one thing I could think of. Maybe cbill bonuses for battles fought for that faction...

There are options but at the end of the day all of them make me personally say "Meh.". (That part is opinion)

LP will be earned and used in the same way we earn C-bills in any other game. We will still earn C-bills and XP in CW but also now have LP earnings. These LP (as of now) will be used to unlock special camo patterns, paints and other shiny stuff that we would otherwise not be able to buy with C-bills or MC.

It will just be a new category of stuff we can only get with LPs.

There was also a thing about it gaining access to Prestigious Units such as the Wolf's Dragoons or 10th Lyran Guards.

yes this as well. I really could also see them using the LP reward system to unlock special faction only mechs or even very rare mechs... like Comstar only type mechs.

That would be an interesting(cool) idea... so long as the masses don't whine about it being unfair cause I want Liao Mechs for my Loyal Steiner Toon!

Tho keep in mind they clearly stated that it doesn't work like a currency which you spend but rather like a level type thing which unlocks things when you reach each different level.

You won't be able to buy patterns or gear with it.

But as things are its probably is going to change a lot in the next months to come.

Way back in CB - the goal was for LP to be used to purchase Unique Mech Variants ... I'm very very hopeful that this becomes the case again some day so that Hero mechs become available though in game means so that the real stigma of P2W can finally be countered.

More recently, it has been stated that having >x level of LP in a particular faction will allow you to wear special camo patterns or colors, while you are affiliated with that particular faction.

I worry with the way they originally described player access to, for instance, a Dragoons camo scheme that this will be akin to achievements rather than the rich content that it really needs to be. For our unit, we want a mechanic for Wolf's Dragoons affiliation that is meaningful. Ideally it would be a faction with which your unit could affiliate and get access to another chat tab allowing cross-unit communication with the other Dragoon units. Additionally, instead of your individual unit switching allegiances, ALL the Dragoons units would change affiliation at the same time, controlled by either some sort of voting system by the unit commanders, or by PGI decree (either would be fine).

The nightmare scenario for me would be to have people from all factions dropping with Dragoons unit decals and camo schemes, fighting each other willy nilly, and shouting "LOLZ WOLF BRAWLZ!" in chat. That would be a total immersion-breaker.

I was under the understanding that you have to max out your loyalty with all IS Houses to become a Dragoon. A PGI run Merc Command. You don;t get the Camo unless you IN the Unit. You should also LOSE the camo if you leave it. -_-

And if that's the mechanic, that's fine. I did hear the description about needing max loyalty with all houses to "become" a Dragoon and there was a hint that the canon merc companies would be a "faction". I just hope that my expectations of what that *should* mean matches what we actually get. We don't want to be THE Wolf's Dragoons. We just want our unit to be PART of the Dragoons and to have tools to coordinate with other Dragoons.

Or just another 346 I.S. Pigs to slaughter before I get promoted to "Star Colonel". Let the real slaughter commence. :)

P.S. Or visa versa. ;)
