Hi all!
I have read many complaints of fellow warriors who were quite a bit unhappy about their hours-long efforts to take a planet being nullified while they are asleep, seeing the next day that the planet they fought hard to defend was taken.
Right now, only the efforts of the players in the last hours of the time window actually count for the flipping of planets, leading to a sense of uselessness.
I do not want to change the whole system, after all this is how it works in most games with a similar persistent universe.
My suggestion is to reduce this feeling grouping the 11 zones in 3 bigger "areas" ( which could represent continents); each of these areas would contain 3 or 4 zones: all battles in each area would happen within a specific time window.
For example: during EU prime time, all battles on Planet X are fought in Area A (3 zones): the result of the EU players' efforts will be gratified by its flip or defense.
Then NA prime time kick off, all battles on Planet X are fought in Area B (4 zones); the result of the NA players' efforts will be gratified by its flip or defense.
The time windows would just be EU, NA, AO. Planet owning would be decided by the owning of at least 2/3 zones.
In this way, the system is not heavily changed, but this lets players in different timezones enjoying some gratification for their dedication to attacking/defending a planet.

Groups, both IS and Clan, should coordinate, maybe on forum.
I'm quite sure every clan and Inner State have groups in usa/europe/other time zone.

you sir, have beat me by one minute. just posted an almost similar suggestion in the CW forum, i also like your idea, might be pretty hard on the database though. because processing that stuff might take a while and during that time noone can keep playing CW... but i'm not sure of this, because i dont know how PGI's servers handle the turnover of the planets...
still, i see that i'm not the only one seeing that lots of peoples work just get taken away by a timer they cant really influence.
