Greetings ForumWarriors,

As many in the community are aware, we decided to implement a forum ‘amnesty’ program in the wake of our separation from IGP. This was our way of reaching out to some of the users who had been banned from the forums during IGP’s tenure.

A number of these users have returned to this community in good spirits. Some rough edges aside (and we’ve all got some rough edges), many of these users are passionate about MechWarrior and BattleTech and have since contributed well to the many ongoing discussions here on the forums.
We want to extend our gratitude and appreciation to those users, and to all users who play a role in making this community what it is. This game only exists because of you, and you are awesome.

Others, unfortunately, have done little to change the antagonistic or toxic behavior that led to the original moderation action, or otherwise continue to repeatedly violate the forum guidelines in small ways.
With so many of these users ‘running in the red’ in terms of their Warn status (amnesty users or otherwise) it was clear to most that a kind of ‘grace period’ has recently been in-place for the more severe moderation actions. Code of conduct violations and temporary suspensions have been enforced for these users the same as anyone else, but up until now no users (amnesty or otherwise) have been permanently banned.

We felt that with our new independence, and in the lead up to the release of Community Warfare, we wanted to provide chances for people to ‘even out’, so to speak. We know passions can stir at times, and we really don’t enjoy barring people from the discussion.

That being said, as of today, the grace period is no longer in effect. Users who continue to engage in toxic behavior or otherwise violate the Code of Conduct will be subject to permanent forum moderation action as deemed necessary by the moderation staff.
Permanent bans will be last resorts, but they will be enforced if needed.

We also want to take this opportunity to reiterate that respectful behavior is expected from all users. Personal attacks, threats, and name-shaming will not be tolerated, regardless of whom it is directed toward (i.e. PGI staff, PGI itself, volunteer moderators, or other users).

See you on the battlefield, MechWarriors

A little more clarification:
  • The 'grace period' (wherein users were not facing permanent bans for repeated violations) is no longer in effect.
  • Any requests for re-entry from users who are still currently banned must be submitted to support@mwomercs.com. Russ will no longer be fielding these requests personally.
