I've been playing the game for two years.

Today however I cannot connect to the game server.

I can launch the client. I can modify and save Mechs in the Mech Lab.

However:
  • When I try to get a public match, I am stuck with endless "searching"
  • If I drop as part of a team, I get the error "disconnected from game server" while the rest of my team successfully drops. If I try to rejoin I receive the "cannot connect to game server" error message.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this problem?

When I run a trace route on what I think is the game server I get the following. (My usual ping in game is around 220-240.):
Tracing route to mwomercs.com [192.99.109.192] over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.1.1

If you haven't changed anything at your end, it's likely the fix is not under your control.

Internet providers change their routing often, and it's likely the route between you and the server farm has changed. It might take a while for the change to fully propagate across the network so you can connect again.

It might be a modem/router update that was pushed to you from your internet provider.
It might be PGI's internet provider changing routing.
It might be any of the servers in between changing routing.

You might be able to get with Support and see if they can do anything, but that's about it.

It might be...

Thanks Durant.

Here's the weird thing:

I can launch the client, save configs in the Mech Bay, buy stuff from the Store, and post in the forums.

I can successfully ping the game servers, and the latency is the usual 234.

But I can't connect to a match, even when I use a VPN to change my routing, or even an entirely different local ISP.

Another PC in my home, using a different account, is having exactly the same problem.

Very perplexing.

As you suggest, I'll see if Support can work out what's going on. (Meanwhile, I have nothing in my Christmas Stocking, my Premium Time is counting down, and the Pirate's Bane I just bought languishes in its hangar :( ).

use ping zapper to change your traffic route.

http://pingzapper.com/

its got a trial mode, see if that helps any, if it does its an internet problem, if it does not then you will know its your end.

just choose the mwoclient.exe file for mechwarrior for it to monitor and route traffic for.

I deduced the problem and its solution.

I posted a fix in this thread.
