As part of CW, I think that it is time that we add Tanks to the game. The defensive positions on CW are static turrets. Tanks with their mobility could patrol a sector of the map. Even if only 2 or 3 tanks of one type or another would add to the defensive capacity of a map. They would however not venture very far in one direction or another, but they would keep offensive units guessing to their present location.

Tanks would work really well if they add in a convoy scenario where one team needs to escort a supply line which would include NPC vehicles such as tanks and infantry.

How about instead of the whole, lets shoot this weird generator that is oddly propped up so we can shoot it, how about escort a convoy to the gate, to hack it open

Add long range vehicles and some short range to be on the attackers spawn.

(ie Long tom mobile artilleries, LRM carriers, etc.) paired with supporting (SRM carriers, Bulldogs, etc)

With a mix of vehicles moving in to assault the gates/ base being a mix of non-artillery craft such as bulldogs, demolishers, etc.

Also some aerospace aircraft and stuff like peregrines, nightshades, etc.

Infantry and battle armour would be cool as well and if the BA and Infantry are a large threat then weapons like the flamer will not be useless anymore!

I doubt, PGI has time for that:
The tanks would need an AI for way-finding. Turrets just shoot at the nearest enemy and the dropships swoop in and swoop out on fixed routes without obstacles or, heaven forbid, moving obstacles.

The landscape in MWO is very tricky, with moving obstacles (Mechs), static obstacles (e.g. rocks) and areas that are off-limits (high slope).
It would take a good AI to handle that and programming that takes a lot of time.

Maybe it would be easier to program Elementals: They could jump and this would make them so flexible that they would have less problems with wayfinding. And the doctrines:
- Shoot at nearest enemy.
- If no enemy within a radius of X, follow player.
- If enemy-unit within a radius of X, follow enemy-unit.

The Elementals' approach would be suicidal, but they could wreak a lot of havoc: The would approach you (the enemy) so close that you risk friendly fire when shooting at them.
