So, 36. ST is 16 IS and 36 armour; shall we assume 6 rear 30 front?
110-36=74
The damage transfer was changed some time ago, while it used to be 50% damage, it was increased to 60% for one component...or 80% reduction for 2 components (WOW).

So, that ST took 27.5 splash damage, making it have ~2.5 left?
74*.4=29.6
29.6>~19
Somethings borked, because it looked like every PPC hit the FS9.

The question is - nerf to whom? To PPCs or, finally, to Firestarters?

I have had it happen so often against heavies and assaults where damage doesn't register its not funny any more. PGI needs to get their crap together and figure out why hit-detection is so crappy...

And that even though it's a joke build it can one shot kill a player and glitching the system to not shut-down or die after firing an alpha that cost 1,747.65 heat.
And this is on a mech with the worst agility in the game, trying to shoot the fastest mech class.
Then that player clearly just missed his shot.
So your takeaway, is that Firestarters need to be nerfed?

obviously your aim is bad and you are a bad. The 1337s say there is nothing wrong with FS9 hit registration/damage. So you must be bad.

nope, I'm watching it on a 40 inch. majority of the shot is on the join of the CT/LT

Sure, that's what it looks like to us - but you know that HSR is a thing, and that what our clients see isn't always synched up to what the server sees.
On topic - hit reg in general is spotty. I've put tons of PPCs into Heavies and Assaults and they haven't registered hits either. This doesn't necessarily mean that there's anything wrong with specific 'Mech's hitboxes though.

Math wise, even with the 60% damage reduction, it should have died. Even with 100% frontloaded ST armour.
Well, unless some PPCs missed. It looked like a solid hit to me, though.

There's a reason it's smoking afterwards, the damage wasn't negated entirely, it simply didn't hit where you thought it hit. That's the real hit reg issue and is a result of JJ animations and torso twisting that occurs without you actually seeing it.

damage transfer I don't think would matter in this case, as the shot was not angled into the ct. If I recall correctly (and could be wrong) but shooting straight thru the ST doesn't damage the CT (aside from the arcing damage) (or arm to ST)

Yeah, it looked like it hit the arm to me, and the arm is smoking after that.
When I get home I'll do a frame by frame on my 60 inch.
