So the UrbanMech Orthos was released and we are all thrilled with the Urbie finally showing up in the game.

Posted Image

But as some of us pointed out, the official UrbanMech looks too slim and tall.

Here are some suggestions for making it more "Urbie-like":

Posted Image

Vote which one you think is best:

1- Official art.
2- Bishop Steiner's suggestion.
3- Spades Kincaid's suggestion.
4- Odanan's suggestion.
EDIT:
5- Merged the #4 with the design proposed by SAOBH.

I'll vote (5) as the best, with 4 as runner up, followed by 3, 2, and 1. But I'm also just glad enough that we will be making the urbie a reality.

VOTE COUNT:
1 - 0
2 - 0
3 - 0
4 - 0
5 - 1

I never wanted the Urbanmech, and I still don't, but I thought it was pretty cool that PGI was doing it. And now that they finally listened to the players who asked for it, there's a campaign to change their design. That's... kinda funny.

For the record, Odanan's looks better. Nr 4. But I wouldn't ask PGI to change their design.

I'd say 4 if it was going to be changed.

Overall though, I'm not unhappy with the PGI model. I have a feeling despite its "slimmer" feel, it will be small.

the Urban is only a bit taller then a Lvl 1 building If that. It is meant to fight in an Urban setting and as slow as it is it needs as much "external" armor as it can get! ;)

I like #3 altough as long as it took to get PGI to consider this seems kind of bad asking them to change the design.

I like the looks of four the most but number three looks like it would have better hitboxes. So i vote three. Honestly though, i'll take whatever I can get, I think the original one if fine as well.

Nº 4 looks more like a proper trashcan with legs. Can´t you make this a poll?

I tried, but there is no option of making a poll for me anymore...

The images there are not showing the high, but the general shape. They all can be equally small.

Thing is, most of the mechs get fatter when they are modelled. Look at the victor and awesome concepts for example, the modelers seem to like wide things. I expect that the urbie will be fatter than concept for this reason. (I do think 3 looks better though).

#2 or #4. The Urbie suits a fatter design - slim and/or tall detracts from the "walking trashcan" aesthetic ;)

Nowt wrong with that, UrbanMech has been a community-driven project and the community is offering feedback on the preliminary designs from the art department. Whether or not they choose to pay any attention to us is entirely up to them, but I hope they do

As a side note, I think the collaboration between PGI and the community in bringing the Urbie to MWO has been fantastic - may it herald a better, brighter future for both ^_^

added my variation (#5) to the line up to see how it fit (would prbly be better a tad smaller in general yet keeping a bulkier upper torso)

4 seems to be the best all-round compromise for all the varying viewpoints.
