I can see how we got the -1G, but I can't find a Sarna reference for the Combine acquiring and running the -3M.

To be fair That was Awesome Thomas Marik. Stackpole didnt ruin the character until 3057

Yes towards the FWL refit kits.
Also, the 3M is kind of seen as the "Standard" inner sphere upgrade kit for the Beemer.
You can see it listed in a few of the RATs for the era, namely Era Report 3052, which has a good, while limited, RAT for the factions in the years leading up to and during the clan invasion.
