I wanted to hear what people thought about this controller since i'm more of a keyboard and mouse kind of person so I figure the people who know what their talking about when it comes to this kind of thing. I was thinking about getting one when they become available but I would like to hear some more professional opinions and thoughts first.

I prefer a joystick (at least it worked great in MW4 for me) over a keyboard and mouse. But since MW4 I've played a lot of mmo's so now I think I could swing playing MWO that way. The Artemis does look cool. Price point and the ability to customize the setup would be key factors. In the end I think someone playing with a joystick could be just as good as a keyboard and mouse player (and the mouse is a naga so lots of buttons)

I just can't see myself spending the money on a peripheral that I'll only use for one game. I am much more likely to buy a billion-button mouse, for example.

It isn't that I wouldn't spend ANY money on a peripheral (see: my rock band controllers), but I won't spend as much as I expect it to cost.

I am going to try out my keyboard and mouse, and my precision pro joystick and see how it goes. I might consider the Artemis depending on the price. I do like something with throttle control.

looks like a waste of money to me, an overpriced gimmick to attract the "ooh shiny" crowd less functional looking than more practical joysticks

seems a bit excessive to me. i can buy a throttle control and joystick combo. However, I think that having one of these in a game pod would be awesome.

Make sense but they haven't mentioned a price yet. But judging by its advertisements I might guess $199 maybe?

One advantages of using a joystick is no need to pick it up. With a mouse you may have to pick it up when you torso twist. An ideal situation would allow for both joystick and mouse as you could use your mouse for pin point aiming/sniping.

I have a joystick already, but if it failed and I had the cash I might buy the Artemis. One thing I am curious about is the sensor/map display built into it. Does it show the full map or just what is shown on your monitor? I also am not sure if the Artemis has enough buttons to fully get rid of the keyboard, then again I would be compairing it to previous games and not MWO.

Shades of 1990s Vworld simpod layout with the layout of the secondary display, throttle with keypad, and joystick positions.

I've seen other people build a whole train drivers cab complete with accurate controls just to play a train sim, and seen similar done by flight sim fans . I like the modular concept of the Artemis and it tends to remind me of some driving sim packages with steering wheel and foot-pedals packaged together - and even those can run into the hundreds of dollars.

As long as it's modular and easily packed away when not in use and supports similar titles (flightsims class-cockpit etc) it should be awesome if released at a reasonable price.

now what I'm seeing in majority is that it would probably be better than mouse and keyboard. now would it be better than a custom setup, if so any suggestions?

Really? I am left handed but I still use the stick with my right and other controls with my left. I also fly Helicopters as a hobby though, so keeping right hand stick form factor is important.

Last pieces by Razor that i had were not the best.
I think quality of their products has dropped.
I'll wait for reviews and opinions of Artemis users.

I agree... but I imagine with a program like PPJoy and the customization they're saying comes with it, you'd be able to set something up for other games--flying games if anything.

I agree also, but--I think the added screen is a pretty cool concept to project the map, armor-wireframe or any other secondary information off the fact that the Battletech novels so often mention the secondary screen. Quality and variety of what you can put onto the screen though I think might play a factor.

Im so far thinking the price tag is probably going to be up there, and I imagine the screen again might throw the price higher too. I've been regularly google-ing around for release date and estimated price whenever I can get to the internet.

. . .INSPIRED BY THE DEVASTATING BATTLEMECHS. . .

It's disappointing though for it to be a mech-sim-controller for a mech-sim game, they left out a pedals (again though, most likely would sky rocket the price more or bring overall quality down to save costs..) because the novels also mentioned fairly often the pilot slamming a pedal or pedals or manipulating them to maintain control.

At this point I'm leaning towards buying a flightstick/throttle combo and am really wanting the pedals. I've heard all over their nice for torso control, but I've only used mouse and keyboard for MW games. Been playing Solaris on Merc's for a couple weeks to keep me occupied. But i'm also an R/C and Aviation dweeb, so the flight sticks and pedals will also be used for X-Plane so I might be a little bias in how i make my decision.
