I wonder if NS defended Luthien :P

Great write ups so far. Deeper insights than one might expect. I have to warn you though ... the ISF making inquiries and would like you to stop by for some Sake for a short interrogation (they really mean a nice chat).

Don't think so, Crock. Seems too close to clan space for HK units to be fighting there.

The Trondheim Live, Daily Report would like to show its support for the start of a new Press Service. The front lines could alway use a few more reporters.

The CEO of the premiere source of news across the Free Worlds League wholeheartedly supports the establishment of the Luthien Star Journal. I hope to one day see each faction develop their own press service propagating their respective lore.

Luthien Star Journal
Issue 2
3/2/3050

This week we have a shortened issue as we are still cleaning up our offices and workstations from the Battle of Luthien last week. We have unfortunately lost some staff due to the conflict, but we are dedicated to providing quality news to our readers. Our staff has not died in vain; the Star Journal will continue on and give the Draconis Combine all the news worthy to read!

Brief Update on the Battlefield
A steady list of updates from the battlefields that our heroic DCMS soldiers fight on

Davion Front:

The Combine-FedSun border has been in flux lately; the addition of several large mercenary companies such as MercStar, Comstar Irregulars, and Apocalypse Lancers has bolstered the ranks of Davion loyalists and re-invigorated their struggles against the DCMS. The High Council has decided to starve these mercenaries by not giving them any c-bills for destroying our soldiers’ Mechs. The large reserve of Davion worlds that have been freed from tyranny by the DCMS allows the attacks by the mercenaries to not threaten our Combine interior.
MercStar has had an interesting week so far. While they have been wasting their time and resources dropping on empty worlds they have also been engaged in a losing cyber battle against Kuritan info-ninjas from the NKVA. Comstar had to step in to slap down the mercenary dogs, proving that the DCMS can win on any battlefield.

Marik Front:

The recent spat with the FWL forces over the “Marik Wormhole” has left a lingering distaste in the mouth of many samurai and soldiers within both factions. Many HPG-pundits have forced up so much distrust that real reconciliation may not occur for months. This distrust has given both factions pause as Marik has recently opened up a Jumpship attack lane into the Combine’s borders. The High Council issues a decree stating that they would not attack any Marik planets as long as the Combine was also left alone. If Marik decides to attack the DCMS however, the High Council has stated that all of their forces will fall onto the Marik front. This option will force a losing battle in both the Davion and Clan fronts, but the DCMS will not back down if the nSL forces a confrontation- a confrontation that is directly against nSL stated intentions of pushing back the Clans. If the nSL really wants to fight the Clans or stall them, they should leave the Draconis Combine alone and help their Rasalhague/Steiner allied factions.

Free Rasalhague Republic Front:

Once again the border between us and our former countrymen in the FRR is quiet. The brave warriors of the KungesArme have been fighting against the ravenous hordes of the Clans for months and unfortunately the FRR has less than tenplanets left. An interesting note- Comstar has taken the planet of Tukayyid as a protectorate. A single report from one of our Journal contacts on Tukayyid mentioned strange Mechs painted in a brilliant white color with gold markings that looked like Comstar’s logo. This report was sent moments before a Comstar Interdict was imposed on Tukayyid, no more information has been received. We at the Star Journal will monitor this situation diligently and update our loyal readers the instant we receive news.

Steiner Front:

Our border with the Lyran Commonwealth is still calm. No organized forces have been deployed by either faction, though minor skirmishes by militias have been noted.

Clan Front:

The offensive by Clan Smoke Jaguar has continued; Luthien is once again surrounded by villainous Clan units. The notorious 228th Independent BattleMech Regiment mercenary unit has been retained by the Smoke Jaguars to attack the Combine. Rumors of massive payouts by Clan members to the 228th have been spoken of, though the actual amount of c-bills offered was unreported.

The DCMS High Council has deployed all available forces to attacking the Clan Ghost Bear occupied planets. This new offensive has liberated five planets in three days and looks to continue as long as the self-described “Ghost Bear’s only competitive unit” MercStar stays in Davion. Let us give our warriors a good send-off and wish them well on their new campaign!

A Warrior’s Profile
The Warrior’s Profile will be a regular column in the Journal, as we have a brief showcase of a great Mechwarrior of the DCMS.

This week- Pwnface of the Night’s Scorn regiment.
Pwnface is a well-known face in the ranks of the DCMS. He is an official Ambassador of the High Council and leader in the Night’s Scorn regiment. Known for using a modified Dragon 1N, Pwnface sends a hail of autocannon rounds into the faces of his enemies while directing his company to dominate the battlefield. At home on the both the diplomatic arena and the battlefield, Pwnface excels as a leader and warrior. We salute Pwnface on his many accomplishments and congratulate the Night’s Scorn for giving him a fertile ground to grow into the masterful samurai he has become!

Editorial Board’s Review
The Luthien Journal’s Editorial Board will regularly weigh in on the latest news and decisions of the DCMS.

The recent decision of the High Council to shift forces from the Davion front to the Clan front is a welcome one. We agree with the council that the Clans are a greater threat than the Davions; even with the duplicitous MercStar/CI mercenaries in the AFFS’s payroll we view the Clans as a deadlier enemy.

Clan Smoke Jaguar hiring, or re-hiring really, the 228th mercenaries is no surprise. To keep up their edge against the DCMS the “Plushy-kitties” need to hire more mercs to fight. They do not have the manpower to fight House Kurita samurai without the help of mercenaries.

Clan Ghost Bear is getting hammered hard by our brave regiments; they have lost a handful of planets in mere days and without their -MS- “overlords” they are unable to stop the DCMS.
The regiments of the DCMS have only started on their campaign to restore the occupied planets- beware Ghost Bears!

The Editorial Board encourages all our readers to support the High Council and DCMS forces on the Clan front battles, our glorious soldiers need all the additional warriors they can get. Sign up and join up- the battlefield awaits!

Breaking News!

Embedded reporters within the Night's Scorn, 6th Rangers: Night Talons, and 11th Legion of Vega are confirming reports from High Council sources and reporters on the ground- the forces of Marik's New Star League have launched an unprovoked attack on the Combine world of Altair. DCMS regiments are being quickly transported to this new front, leaving the Clan border bare as the Arm of the Dragon fulfills its promise to fight a war with Marik to the end. Marik leadership has yet to comment on this assault, though a noted Colonel Ilthi Dragon was spotted on the battlefield himself, perhaps showing that the Marik leaders are fully in support of this heinous invasion.

More news to come, the war with the nSL and FWL has only just begun.

The wormhole sounds very interesting, player created for sure.
Can someone explain how it was created to allow Mark to get all the way up to the clans?

It was a glitch in the algorithm and gave marik a territory deep in kurita space. we talked with marik and agreed to allow it to expand outward and see if they could open up a new front. unfortunately the algorithm went every direction except at the clans, and then merc groups started to abuse its existence to take planets from us, so we ultimately decided to end it

The original idea was that house marik would take worlds going up towards the clans while house kurita would retake the worlds behind them. The problem as I understand it (which isn't very well) was that a merc group had started attacking random kurita planets so it had to be closed.
(Someone correct me if I'm wrong please)
