Considering your getting a Locked i5 (if you were to get the i5-4460) there will be no overclocking so anything should do as long as it's socket 1150, if you were to get a Unlocked i5 that allowed overclocking though (i5-4690K being the Cheapest, $200 in store pickup @ Microcenter: http://www.microcent...Boxed_Processor ), I'd say get a Z97 Chipset, for $100 there are 9 Options, 8 if you don't want to deal with MIRs. of those, I'd say look at MSI Z97 PC MATE, $90 @ Newegg but there's a $10 MIR that would bring cost down to $80+$2 Shipping so $82, Amazon also got it but no MIR so $90:

for Motherboard, I'd say a Gigabyte for their Easytune 6 Software, and maybe try MSI Afterburner to monitor and possibly OC your GTX 750ti.

Don't worry about having the ability to upgrade. You'll be able to put an i5 into any board that can run the 3258, and once you know how to overclock on the 3258, you know how to overclock on whatever i5 you get later on.

A couple people have recommended boards, and I'm going to second DV on the Asrock board

um, no:
Cons:
  • Making your own combo deal is not as attractive as when it was actually offered as a combo
  • Low phase voltage limits further upgrades/overclocking
  • Auto-OC not perfect
that MSI PC Mate should be good:

The MSI board certainly has nothing wrong with it, but it's also $10 more than the Asrock board and has fewer USB 3.0 ports. Its UEFI inferface does look nice, granted.

I'd certainly take it over the ECS board.
