This is pretty much the most generous event by PGI which you can win free stuff by actually playing normally. If you fail to break 30 regularly enough to make such a thread, you should think about the way you play.

Is there a guide somewhere to scoring formula. (I've been playing for 3 years and never bother to check LOL!)

Just the most minimal amount of teamwork and you have it.
OP's difficulty being able to reach a 30 match score says a LOT.

If you can't get 30 points on your Match Score, then you may want to stop playing video games altogether.
