As far as I'm aware, this is completely false. The current trials are built by PGI. Sean Lang has taken initiative in building new trials and presenting them to PGI, but PGI hasn't started using them yet.

RVN-3L - standard brawler meta
RVN-2X - meta laser vomit
FS9-H - 100% optimised to quirks, standard meta build
SDR-5D - best/most optimised build possible

... should I keep going? They're all great builds, and many of them are exactly or damn near what GMan suggests, which is what most comps use.

Too good to be trial mechs. I would suggest losing the Endo/Ferro upgrades and building accordingly.

Brawling in Raven 3L is extremely dumb.
Raven 2X build is bad.
Stalker 4N build, holy lol, I did not think it possible to screw up a Stalker 4N
BNC-3E build is hot garbage

Feel free to suggest better builds and post them on that Reddit thread. But if you think so many of those builds are trash, despite the fact that they are very common and effective builds, almost all of them are mentioned in GMan's guides, and most of them are meta or have been meta at some point and are still viable... then I don't wanna see what kind of builds you run in your own mechs.

Heck, I saw exactly that RVN-3L build used by EmP back in some league matches in February and I saw that exact RVN-2X build used in a league match by SJR just last week.

as usual, any speculation on where I believe certain high profile streamers stand on that spectrum of strong team carriers and weak, worthless mech designing, thin skinned babies who must be carried is just that: speculation.

Any build is better then the trial builds newcomers are forced to play with. If this game wants to survive in the long run, it needs a larger player base and you will not get this with trial mechs that overheat at two shoots fired or are so messed up that no experienced player would ever use them.

Its in our own interest that the extremly high learning curve gets lowered and newcomers dont get frustrated all the time. Learning this game is hard enough and it should not be made even harder with absolutly uncompetetive mech setups for beginners.

So, thumps up for better trials like sean lang is suggesting them.

Btw, instead of beeing unpolite and harsh to beginners that come to battle with their first hard earned own lrm assault, we should give them respectfull guidance that these 100tons can be put to better use. The usual "fu.. lrm noob" will not achieve this.

trial adder is fine, trial nova is fine, trial scr is quite good as well.

some just suck, the trial timber, lol, way to less lrm ammo, lrms generally, are poop, the rest is a strnange mix of badly composed wepaon distribition, different lasers in far away sections. Its horrible to put this in proper groups to make a real good use of.
Well and ER alser in generall, LOL they are poop.

The champion trial mechs of some IS mechs are quite good. most other are because stock not good, sicne they lakc the vital upgrades and often have not enough ammo.
