There is probably still a while till we get Solaris because PGI is so busy with CW right now.
But that means we can still influence what Solaris becomes when it does arrive.

I want to make certain that we get the option to choose ourselves whether we participate in matches within our selected mechs weightclass or open weight matches.

Like how we choose between Skirmish, Conquest and Assault modes.
I want to be able to drop in a match where i'll be fighting opponents from all weightclasses in my Vindicator.

Cowardly/trolling players who hide/run away and how to deal with them.

I'm also concerned cowardly players might try to hide or run away if odds are against them.
So having a restriction that disqualifies them instantly if they don't do any damage within a certain amount of time could be a good idea.

I think such cowardly/trolling players deserve to get banned from Solaris for a certain amount of time.

But that means they will just switch over to a nonbanned account right?
There is a way to put a limit on that-

-By making it so that trial mechs have their own league where you cannot bring custom mechs.
That means cowards/trolls that want to use custom mechs will need a lot of accounts with a bought mech to keep doing their cowardly deeds.

Most new players in trial mechs would probably be happy they get one less opponent to fight since hiding players gets disqualified.
That just means they have a bigger chance of winning the match and dragging home more glory and C-bills.
Extra C-bills they can spend on getting their first mech.

Buying a mech demands either real money or time invested in playing the game to get c-bills.
The longer the banning time the more accounts with bought mechs they need.

We could go even harsher but i don't think PGI would do that since it might hurt the moneypouch too much.

Such as creditcards that are tied to repeatedly offending accounts risk permanent bans from MWO Solaris on all the accounts it's tied to.
Even if only 1 of those accounts is trolling all those accounts tied to that creditcard gets banned.

Maybe even from MWO alltogheter instead of just MWO Solaris. Refund what they used on MWO and kick them out PGI.
Forcefeed a randomly selected unlucky intern raw coffee beans till he nearly bursts and hand him that Banhammer.
Now get out of the way because he has gone frothing insane. Pound them into a #¤%/@(! stain on the floor.

Is being able to select how big a match you participate in a good thing or not?

I'm completly neutral on this one.
On one hand being able to select the number of player in the match has it's obvious upsides.

But it has some possible downsides too. I don't think i managed to list all the consequences.

- Que waiting times gets longer.
- Harder to make maps balanced if they have to be able to handle small and large number of players.
- More programming means more time till we get Solaris.
-Some maps might outright suck at certain starting locations depending on the number of enemies and how close they are.

- Some maps might be somewhat unsuitable for small numbers of participants. Leading to overly long matches.
- Other maps can't deal with a huge number of players and it becomes a random slugfest.
Total chaotic mayhem....not that a combination of chaos or mayhem is a bad thing though.
- They might have to make seperate maps for small and large matches. More time till we get Solaris.

I took the freedom of putting fat letters on important stuff to make it easier to read.

Ah, how I would enjoy an all-out deathmatch, Solaris-style! _{Although I would probably get ruined super-fast as usual. XD}

But, more on topic, I would certainly be all for the idea that we could choose what weight classes to drop in if we felt so inclined, or choose to drop in an open class match. Choices are better than "But thou must!" any day of the week.

And punishing those who would run and hide? Well, on the one hand, assuming the size of map design from MW4 Solaris matches was the case here, it would be a little harder to outright hide than it would be on, say, Terra Therma, so it might not always need to be punished at all.
But for those times when one can indeed escape the battle, some kind of punishment would certainly be nice for those who actually have an interest in the battle itself to see imparted on those with no interest in fighting. I am not feeling very creative right now, so no ideas for how that system should work. ^^"



All-in-all, I want a Solaris game mode, but I have no idea exactly how it would work; I do feel, however, that I would probably be pretty comfortable with whatever we might get.

Tonnage needs to match tonnage limits in Solaris. It's not healthy competition allowing vast differences.

Open division (any 'mech allowed)
Weight Class divisions

And in each of the 5 divisions:

Thunderdome (12 mechs enter, 1 mech leaves)
4 vs. 4 vs. 4
6 vs. 6
2 vs. 2 vs. 2 vs. 2 vs. 2 vs. 2
1 vs. 1

Each of these in different arenas, like in MW4

It seems you only read the poll or thread title and missunderstood me. You can make the choice whether to drop in mixed or weight class matches.

Sounds like fun. Especially the 2 man tagteam matches.
But i'm mostly aiming for 12 or 24 man free for alls. 12 or 24 mechs enter with no allies. Only 1 comes out.

As you can probably tell i want to answer to no one. No allies complaining of my non meta build/tactics. I'm just responsible for myself.
I'm surrounded by enemies? Good. Open fire and shoot anything that moves.

The problem? I don't think they can add in more than two teams at once. In theory it should be easy to change, but if that was the case they probably would have done it by now.
