I'd love to have a leaderboard event that took only your first 10 matches in a chassis.
After 6 hours (or however long), you would then be able to try again with 10 more matches (highest scores replacing lowest).

I will say, I KNOW the purpose of the weekend events is to promote play and "cooldown" seems counter to that but:
1) It irks me that those without as much real life responsibility have a better shot at winning at leaderboards than others.
2) If there are multiple chassis to choose from, I do not think that this idea would hinder the promotion of play because while people are on 'cooldown' for a chassis, they could be trying for another. Also, 10 games is a healthy chunk of time per chassis.

I suggested 6 hours because if an event started at Noon, PST on a Friday and ended Monday at Noon PST. That would give every player 6 "sessions" to try for a leader board and could be done at their leisure. Or put another way, it would mean the results would be the product of 60 games per person and allow a large window for people to get those games in. Making it fair for people who are busy but want to participate but also allow those who have free weekends to keep trying to get better games!
And, of course, number of matches and "cooldown" time could always be tweaked based on PGI's metrics of people's average play time, etc.

I like this idea. I hate how I can break into the top 20 with some pretty good scores on Friday evening/Saturday morning, get busy with life and responsibilities, and then come back late Sunday to discover that the basement trolls have pushed me down to about 200.
The tourneys, though fun, really just cater to pale-skinned, big-eyed, computer Smeagols chanting "My Precious" as they grind their way to the top of the tourney lists.

Hah, well Darl1ng, I don't think I'm as cynicla as you xD I'm sure most simply play...A LOT...and that they simpy have more opportunities for good games due to the sheer volume of games they play. I don't share the view that they dump their Elo, etc. but that's just my opinion.
What I would like is for the leaderboard to represent people's skill rather than their time! But that's a player priority and (here's my cynical side) PGI's priority is for our time. So, I understand the choice to create a "grindy" tournament.
HOWEVER, I think PGI's been doing a good thing with the recent Phoenix, Founder, Invasion events where they allow the leaderboards to exist and simultanously run a separate personal challenge.
If the shift was to quality leaderboards over quanity leaderboards, then they could shift a "personal challenge" over to a quantity mechanic to incentivize lots of play: like the grab-bag events!
If you did a tournament as I described above AND included, say 1,000 GXP for every 5 matches and 2,000,000 cbills everytime you hit 10 matches with a different chassis...then we have both a quality-reflective tournament AND a bonus for people who have the free time to grind away!
