A nit pick from me.
Select Mech.
View Modules.
Back to Select Mech.
Change Mech.
Modules tab still selected for new Mech but not the new Mechs actual Modules.
Need to change tabs (select any other)
Go back to Modules tab to see new Mechs Modules. ;)

Only thing I'm still gripey about and will always be is the select mech screen. I want them all layed out in a grid like the store still has and the full specs and equipment of each in a permanent, not hover over, window

for me its more like
select mech
go to skill screen
search for mech there
check if its mastered
go back to mechselection
check if x2 bonus is still on
go back and forth between skill tab and selection to find unmastered mechs

1. select mech
2. Check loadout (optional)
3. Check skill (confirmed x2 on step 1)
4. DROP!

1. the problem is not with the mech bay, its with the mech select.
2. pgi has stated that they plan to "fix" this in around august.

so i am reserving my complaining for when the "fix" comes out.

Oh snap, there is an 'expanded' button. Well now, that changes things slightly. Sweet. :D

Largely apathy, the mech select screen is still terrible.

I do not make fuss on the forum.
I understand it's a preference thing.
But because you ask...

I can't stand the mech select screen. For me cycling through my mechs is very important. I rarely drop w the same mech twice.

I just stopped playing, for the first time since open beta. I'll come back in August.

Don't hate, it's my preference.

Not a fan of the new mech select either. I literally have to hunt through mechs now to find where I stashed my XLs whereas before I could simply look at the list and immediately know which had it.

I'd be all for having a toggle for the new way, and a toggle for the old way.

People...

*Found the expanded tab
*Got used to it
*Now can use expanded in lower resolutions

I think those helped curb the fury a bit. I'd still like to see some streamlining implemented when selecting a mech, but overall I like the latest UI. I think many people like it now too now that they have had more time with it.

Obviously, it's not perfect. But I do find it very quick and easy to use, personally.

But at this point, now that initial shock is gone, and familiarity with the new interface has set in, what are the major issues or features lacking? What have general opinions tuned to at this point?

were you here for the FIRST aberration of the UI? Many complained and after a few months, we gave up.
Even gave up on the simple things, non stop noises, mulitple clicks. They tossed us a bone now and again
Same with this, really the first one was good, lol, needed tweaks, they keep re-doing the works and we're told its better be quiet...sigh THATS the answer to your question

I have barely used the new mechlab but on the outside it looks fantastic.

As for the new mech select system... up Apathy all the way, that and other games.

If the person who created the MWO mechlab actually played the game, that's how it would look like:

Mechlab is generally fine, especially after 'plebs' like me got their expanded view. There are some issues, but they are minor (dropdown lists in equipment tabs that hide 1 item, eg. ecm dropdown list for one possible ecm variant, ams list for that one type of ams there is... and the default engine sorting...). It's an improvement that still needs a bit of tuning, that's all.

Mech select sucks. The decisions to remove 'see all' option and adding obligatory dropdown lists was and is appalling.
But they've said they'll fix that, so I'm cool. Waitning patiently B)

I'll be honest, aside from cosmetics, don't personally see the issue with the new mech select, but would love to see it with a few features added, including a "tile view" for those who were trained on McDonalds cash registers.

Personally, because of the sorting methods used in the old Mechlab, never found the tiles any faster, TBH, for finding my mechs. Here, it's like, 3-4 linear clicks and done. Not as pretty, but on average, just as fast,if not faster, for me.

I was saying from the day it was released that the new mech lab and the new mech picking screen are vast improvements over the old version: more information presented, a flatter interface (fewer layers), much better organisation for those with a large stable of mechs, and so on and so on.

I guess some are resistant to change, which is fair enough in some ways, and some just like to complain about anything that PGI produces, which is grossly unfair.

The new mech lab is the best that any Mechwarrior game has ever had.

Id like to see a return to the old large grid mechlab mech select we had, and id also REALLY like a way to remove modules from the mech select view without having to go into the mechs loadout, remove them and save it. An option in the inventory to see where your modules are currently mounted would be nice too.

Other than that though, its all good.

Would like to not have the screen slingshot when I go to the Module tab too. Leave it open on the left side, like everything else.

Honestly after such a long time collecting mechs I just wish for 2 things in this gotta catch 'em all mech game of ours.

1. To have our old closed beta "quick select" for our 4 fav mechs back

2. The ability to create my own lists/groupings of mechs for things like
  • A list of energy boats
  • My dakka mechs
  • My lrmboats
  • Everything with ecm
  • A grouping of all my cbill bonus mechs for those farming days (currently split across the heros and champion tabs)
  • Or just things like my current fav mechs or a list of things I need to grind for xp.
