Just wondering if anyone is having issues starting MWO after installing Windows 10.
I click on my shortcut to start the game and nothing happens although Task Manager is showing that the bootstrap sentinel is running. I'm unable to terminate the process and when i try to re-run MWO I get an error stating that there is already an instance of the bootstrap sentinel running.
Any help / advice would be much appreciated

General consensus (including my own observations) is that MWO runs fine on Windows 10, provided your drivers are up to date. If you are having issues running the game, I would double-check that you are executing the game with proper privileges (at one point MWO required admin access). It doesn't hurt to run the MWO data check utility available in the launcher. If all else fails, then reinstall the game.

I suggest that you Download and install C++ 2010 Redistributable Package and Microsoft DirectX® End-User Runtime and hopefully it should work after that (it did for me). Don't ask me why as my tech knowledge is limited.

Those code packages are required by MWO to execute. It's like building a house of blocks. DirectX and the C++ runtime library hold "blocks" that are necessary for MWO to do its thing (In DirectX's case, to show pretty pretty graphics).
So yes, if you've done a full upgrade without reinstalling MWO, reinstalling will likely take care of the issue here.

This will most likely fix the issue as I had the same.
Be SURE to use the context menu (right click on icon) and run them BOTH as Admin.

Drove me nuts for like a half-hour until I haphazardly figured it out looking in the installed programs to realize it was MIA.

It's pretty much identical to the Windows 8. It's more of a UI overhaul with the start menu reintroduced and Metro interface blended in more with the traditional desktop interface. Cortana, Edge etc are all gimmicks you won't ever use. If you're perfectly happy with the Windows 8.1, there's no reason to switch until DirectX 12 becomes a thing.

Features from both, more towards 8.
Still learning how to turn off all the data mining.
Ick no. Nothing like 8 at all, leaves all the horrible behind.

The only trouble I had was the nvidia driver management suite fighting over who to listen to. It made me go all 1998 on it and do a clean sweep of all nvidia driver / software and go fresh.

If you are happy with 8 I question your sanity

I'm perfectly happy with 7, it's the best OS I've had though people may disagree. I only play MWO and golden oldies. Thinking about getting a cracked version and play with it in VmWare just to keep myself up to date but for now I'll stick with 7.

Reinstalling of the game helps.
If you dont want to download all 8 GB, then after quick installation make sure that patch window is running correctly. Then copy files from new MWO-folder and paste it into MWO-folder from old windows with override. This should run the game.
