Its nice that we have it here.
But lets be honest, ranking someone in 1-5 grade scale is not very self-explanatory.
Lets steal stuff from TT:
Tier 1: Elite
Tier 2: Veteran
Tier 3: Regular
Tier 4: Green
Tier 5: Recruit
New players starts with Tier 4, so last two could be exchanged. Or:
Tier 1: Ace
Tier 2: Elite
Tier 3: Veteran
Tier 4 Regular
Tier 5: Green
Thoughts?

problem with this is that it's more based on win/loss ratio which for a group competitive situation doesn't matter but in a no group game cue which majority of MW: O play- they are at the mercy at what the other 11 team mates do
you can be a good player but be in T3 or T4. Calling them a recruit even though they can probably beat most T2 players on a 1 vs 1 for a good percent of the time and/or played this game for 3 years+, it probably won't really be a good sight to see...
Oh, I should also mention that scouting/ spotting and anything that isn't straight up damage dealing often resualts in a lower Match score and PSR is not per weight class like it was for Elo so light mechs do struggle to get a good PSR boost for dealing 500 damage when you compare your 1100 damage direwolf games that is 3 times better in terms of boost...
HOWEVER after some ironing out has occurred on the PSR system I would not mind having a name system like that if the 'lower' end stuff was a bit less 'simply' (have recruit for people who are on there first 100 matches?) put as a newbie/ negative term, while not over glorifying the top guys. Elite and stuff is fine. But "legendary" or "godlike" is out of the window.

I would prefer to see Tier labels that match up with BattleTech mercenary pilot ratings.
Tier 5: Green
Tier 4: Regular
Tier 3: Veteran
Tier 2: Elite
Tier 1: Legendary
Using these labels instead of numbers would be more like how pilots and units were rated by the Mercenary Review and Bonding Commission.
I don't mind being called "Green" so long as it matches up with the game fiction.

Something more descriptive would be nice, but as it only applies to the forums, it's not doing much.
If the matches were displayed according to tier and we picked which ones to join, then the description helps in conveying meaning to the reader.
It may be better to relate the description to the typical style of match that you would experience in those tiers.
eg:
Tier 5: Entry Level (seeing as it is)
Tier 4: Casual
Tier 3: Regular
Tier 2: Competitive
Tier 1: Tournament
Or something like that.
