What if you could pick a single light/medium/heavy/assault all at the same time in the mech lab(or not if you like) and queue?

What if you could pick multiple light/medium/heavy/assault all at the same time in the mech lab (or not if you like) and queue?

The matchmaker would have way more weight classes and tonnage choices to pick, therefore the matches would be more balanced in regards to weight/tonnage. If everyone did it (and it's optional) the Matchmaker would have 4x the mechs to choose to balance a game afaik

The matches would also be quicker as it can fill the correct slots faster.

Totally optional, you don't have to pick more than 1 mech if you like how it is now or if you don't want too.

Scenario: You could log in. Pick Timberwolf (75), , Warhawk (85) and say Arctic Cheetah (30) and whichever was the best for the matchmaker at the time it would put it in. Or you can just do what you always do and pick just 1 mech.

Or if you could pick multiple of the same class. You could pick a 65, 70, 75 mech and whichever the MM needs most to balance tonnage it would choose. Or just pick 1 mech and wait like you do now.

Thanks,

I don't think the MM actually notices tonnage and attempts to balance that way, but certainly have extra weight-classes would help.

I could log in, say I'd like to play with either my:

1: Locust (light)

2: Cicada (medium)

3: Victor (assault)

Then whatever is most needed would get me into a match, resulting in fast match-making.

This seems like a really solid idea.

I would opt-in to it for sure!

My worry is of course, it matching you into two drops simultaneously, or the same drop simultaneously, either on both teams, or twice on yours.

EDIT: To explain:

There are two ways of doing this, that I can think of:

1- The MM treats you like a group drop (premade). Which immediately causes problems, so I doubt that will be it.

2- The more likely one is that the MM will treat each one of the selected mechs as it's own tick in the MM pool. This would be the easier to work with/fix/tweak one. The problem here lies in that it's treating you as three separate entries. Which could mean it might derp out, and match those three entries in the same match, or worse, three different matches. Simultaneously.

A possible solution would be that all three entries would share a common tag to the MM, so that as soon as one enters a match, the other 2 are immediately removed from the MM pool.

This could be plausible if they re-activate the 'favourites' dropship from closed beta.

MM is less of a problem in SOLO queue.

Problem is in group queue not sure if this addresses the problem.
Maybe MWO should be brought back down to 8Man for group queue.

Shure, cose' in a realistic battle hot-drop situation you don't know what you'll be piloting until the very last second..

And even then, its your drop commander, and not you, who decides..

Please..

Stop thinking in mechanical out-of-game terms... and think in realisitic immersive in-game terms..

Because in real live you have absolutely no idea what planet or environment you would be dropping on or would logically choose the short range brawler for Alpine Peaks because who would choose long range armaments in that situation. In the real world you would have some idea where you were dropping and choose weaponry accordingly.

But we don't have that option (knowing the map) now.

This idea does not take away from anything we currently have, and if it gives us faster matches its a good thing.

Actually, that's BT canon. If it's a mech, it was dropped, doesn't matter if the build didn't fit the planet. Especially because any customization to the mech beyond a paint job takes no less than several weeks, to months.

The reason the clans womped the IS so hard is because of their omni pods. Basically clan pilots always dropped with the best loadout for the battlefield, while the IS worked with whatever mechs they had.

Oh, you brought a crab onto a lava planet? tough luck.

This needs to be a thing.

If the MM system is going to be so picky, people need to be able to give it more options so they aren't sitting there indefinitely because your group doesnt mesh with the other people trying to play.

Changes were made to the community warfare for what I assume is because of the dwindling player base so quick matches should do the same.
