Topic says it all.

I'm not a lawyer , and obviously their would need to be some licensing going on for it to happen I would imagine. ( Or some people would need to get together for a little pow wow so to say)

However I would imagine the cost of these mechs would probably be more then 10$( 10 ~ 20$ would be my guess) if not right around their. I for one would pay for a locust, shadow/phoenix hawk, Rifleman, Marauder , Battle master. Easily.

The thing is with Licensing I imagine these mechs would cost a pretty penny unless PGI negotiated the deal well in their (our possible) Favor.

Personally I would love to see Unseen. Those above listed mechs have always been my favorite ever since I played the original mechwarrior.

Topic is simply for a community feel. To see if the community would support PGI if they went through the whole ordeal to make it happen.

Here's a link for people to check out if they need a refresher on the who vs who.

I would gladly pay it as well, some of the unseen are still IMHO the best looking ones out there.

I think there would be enough people who love designs like the Marauder and Warhammer to make it possible, especially if the game attracts lots of non-Battletech fans who also want the unseens because they see them as 'premium' after the fans start buying them.

Lets step aside from the Unseen question for a minute.

There are simply so dang many battlemech designs, even in the 3048 timeline. I seriously doubt that the devs will be able to put them all in the game.

So, why not have a mech Kickstarter affair? The devs could put out a list of mechs that they just do not foresee putting in the game as standard updates. Niche combat roles, funky design, whatever. Then fans can pledge money to the designs they want. If enough pledges show up, then the Devs make the mech, and swipe the pledged money from your accounts.

Having it be a set "Pay $20 for this mech" deal means the devs have to read our minds about which mechs we want. Even among the Unseen there are several mechs I don't think very many people (if anyone) would shell out cash for.

Yeah, I can say I'd be willing to shell out some cash to see some of the unseen designs make it into MWO. Buck's got a good point though, it'd be wise to start out slow on initial choices.

Eh for me its more for nostalgia. I don't really care for mechs outside of of the ones i mentioned. Although I can't believe I forgot the warhammer.

I also prefer the original designs I suppose a good idea would be to introduce the "reseen" versions. And if they can in the future just offer the reseen in there original incarnations. Not some of those wacky redesigns.

I really do think the unseen will be included at some point. I wouldn't be surprised if the legal hurdles are already being handled and they are planned as a pay package/individual release down the line.

While I wouldn't mind paying for some of these mechs, I don't see why one digital item should be $10 on up. I can get a cheapo toy that actually takes up real materials for around $1. I understand and respect that it will take money, time, and effort to make one of these digital machines. But once it is completed they do not have to manufacture each mech for each user. Generally a price between $1 - $10 seems reasonable for buying a digital item, a price between $10 - $20 gets into the more unreasonable range, and $30 on up is just insane. I was able to purchase the Crysis complete pack for less than $20, so it sort of puts it into perspective.
That said, I would seriously consider something in the $1 - $10 range depending on what mech it is. I would only go higher for a mech that I seriously liked, but the only one I might go for is the Warhammer or Marauder.
Some other mechs I like of the unseen are as follows:
Behemoth (Who doesn't love so much fire power?)
Battlemaster (It just looks cool)
Archer (Because it is a cool one from the books, and it has some serious fire power)

I'd rather just get redesigns that don't require any legal hurdles. All the new concept art is fantastic imo. I wouldn't hesitate to trust Alex w/ our old favorites.

No, you know why? Because it would implement a pay to win type feature. That ruins games

Time will tell . lets just get the game and start playing it before we worry about unseen or seen mechs .

Unfortunately, the only way the Unseens will happen is if PGI redsigns (or accepts a redesign from a freelancer willing to sign all right over) them. tHE LEGAL STUPIDITY OF THE INTERNATIONAL copyright laws have made the Macross Mechs radioactive, and for a while they were adding the Cruusher Joe/Dougram models, but something caused them to back off. Not only ogf those but also from ANY outside designs. I think the fact that it's been over 320 years with no clear cut resolution has left them realizing that sadly, at any point some other entity could buy into the rights for the other Mechs, and cause the same snarl of horse manure Harmony Gold has. And PGI I don't think wants to get handed a lawsuit or major cease and desist order 5 years from now, causing all the ruckus and canon headache the Unseen fiasco caused FASA.

I would gladly pay a "licensing rental fee" maybe 5 dollars per design in stable, per month or something, for those Mechs. But I don't see it happening. We will probably be "lucky" if we even get those pathetic Project Phoenix versions.

Again though, you're getting into a model term of paying for a good/better/different mech that effects gameplay which PGI has stated they will NEVER do when it comes to things effecting gameplay. And it pushes the borders of pay to win when it comes to buying something that effects gameplay

I would love to have an unseen mech in the game! No one would be able to target me and I would always win. That would be super cool!

(Yes, yes, I know what the unseen mechs are...)

because honestly, most of those suck so horribly, I know a ton of us would rather they stay dead then be raped like that. The Marauder is decent (at least the RAC version), as is the T-Bolt, but both lose 90% of the feel of the original (the T-bolt being a squat armored juggernaught, not some lithe thing) As for almost all the rest? They look stiff and stupid, mostly. As a fan of the Warhammer, I find it the single biggest affront. If they are going to redesign them, I pray the use artists who can at least pay them respect.
