How do you feel about the new Map and Mode voting system?

  1. Map and Mode voting should stay (159 votes [26.24%])

Both stay.

It is imperative that game mode selection remain if we want any shot at additional game modes. Being able to hard block a mode is one of the largest reasons matches took as long as they did to build and it was a huge obstacle to building more game modes. They simply could not leave that type of restriction in and add more potential splits to the player pool for match making.

I can agree with fewer choices on maps as that would help get some of the less popular maps played. Drop it to three and let's see what happens.

For my part... I would rather PGI had taken the alternative route many of us have suggested....

.. give me an options screen.. let me "checkbox" the maps I like, let me "checkbox" the game type I like... I'm fine waiting the extra minutes in a matchmaking as the server looks for other's with my preferences and puts us into a match.

Seems like that should be easy to implement. If I'm sick of 3 out of 4 matches being Alpine Skirmish.. de-select them from my options list, and wait a few extra minutes for TT or Bog, etc. *shrugs*

Starting to see the SAME map over and over. It is getting to the point where maps people don't like (and I don't mind playing on) are not happening.

Guys.... now really. No fun, no joke, no bullying, only the truth.

The players, who wants to play conquest, primary, now can't play conquest, because most people play assault or skirmish, and if only the choose between conquest and assault exists, to nearly 90% of all the time, all vote for assault.
So, on the other hand, if the conquesting Company have luck, and they can play their beloved Conquest, the people, who play only skirmish or assault, will never, in most times, going to cap. They play their skirmish and assault in this conquest-mode. I'm one of them, because I hate it to cap, if I want to play conquest, I would take a light, because of the speed. So, my mechs are build for fighting, not for capping. Thats another point. So, all in all, it is bad for both groups (skirmish and assault is nearly the same, so I put them in one group)
Thats what I saw, what I see and I'am really sure, that it will be so in the future, if nothing will be changed.
Next thing is, map voting... of course, now all players take cool maps or canyon network, because it is a good map for fighting, no hot maps and very rare other maps, like alpine peaks or forrest colony. So, in the system, that now exists, only 2 or 3 maps are getting played. (HPG Manyfold, Canyon Network and Frozen City) The other maps are only be taken, if not one of this 3 maps are available. Not good.
So please, delete this voting-system or change it very, very hard.

I don't think map voting would be so bad if there were 20 or more maps, and the game mode voting wouldn't be as bad if we had 6 or more game modes. That being said and not possible voting is a stupid idea, I knew before I even patched I would get small cold maps on skirmish only. I mean does common sense or general logic even come up? Or maybe a PTS to see how players received it and then tweaks until it worked, instead of forcing it down out throats? My other big issue is that finding games is not faster, I timed it, and the average for me finding a game during prime time is 45 seconds, and 3 min not during prime hours. Before the wait times were about 45 seconds during prime hours and 2 min during non prime hours. Seems to me that they have utterly failed in the reason they put voting into place.

Map voting was an interesting thing. However I always felt the game modes bland, like they're just filler. It would be nice to see a different game mode than the usual copy of Unreal Tournament. Bring the old MW4 missions back. The escorts, the info gathering, some different objectives. Conquest is essencially domination and assault is.... well assault. A bit of creativity would be in order.

Both should stay, but with the following changes:

  • Votes only determine likelyhood. As long as at least one person votes Terra Therma or Conquest there should be a 1/24% chance for Terra/Conquest to happen (provided that all players voted)
  • Don't show the current voting status while voting is still active, to avoid snowball effects

IMHO this was a very welcome change.

though i do prefer the middle Gen Halo's (H3, H:r) version better, for two reasons,

1; a default map is selected, with a heavier "weight" in favor of the order of initially chosen, secondary and tertiary so tie votes are resolved without issue or remorse.

2; the Map is tied to the game type, promoting variety. (not a huge fan of this though and could thoroughly enjoy the current vote on type)

not a fan of the selection, but is it just me or do matches now seem to be more one sided than they were with the old system?

You guys (PGI) go through all the trouble to create different and challenging maps. Then you decide to enable the ability to never visit those maps as many people keep selecting one of the same three maps.

If the goal was for everyone to hardly ever see 75% of the maps you created, then Thumbs Up. You have succeeded in this.

Please, change it back.

My wife allows me to spend about $7 on this game a month. Till I get the mode selection back I will spend it on soft drinks, that is unless the local store implements voting on what drink I CAN HAVE. Its not a lot of money, but multiply it by how many I hear in game pissed about this, well lets just say that we might have to wait for another company to pick up BT.

On the other hand If they change it before they lose to much of there base, we should thank them by buying something. I like the looks of the new rifleman.

Haven't been able to play conquest since this came out.

I like conquest.

Skirmish/Conquest show up? Skirmish.

please remove voting.

Only good thing was I haven't dropped in terra therma once, but I'd rather play conquest.

Yes, i must say this is far better.. The few times i played this week, was the same couple maps over and over.. Not a single conquest either. Often that is all i play. I know many don't like conquest, but the old way you could uncheck it, and not play it. Even with Just conquest selected with only NA servers i typically only waited a min or two to get a match.

under this system i will never see terra again! Believe it or not i actually like the map too.


My personal opinion is that is what private matches are for.. make your on rules, play what maps, pick what mechs can and can't play.. ect

I think the sytem should stay... but it needs refining. One should be incentivized into choosing the more difficult maps ( read less popular if you wish ). This hold for game modes as well. For instance if, 60% of the matches in the last 15 minutes have been skirmish, conquest and Assault should get earning bonuses (% may vary ) attached to a victory, likewise for maps...

Game mode is screwed. People are forced into games they hate and either refuse to play, suicide out, kamikaze out, or just take the dc penalty and disconnect.

Skirmish/Conquest show up? Skirmish.
Skirmish/Assault show up? Skirmish.
Assault/Conquest show up? Assault.

Playing the same map 12 times in a row is bull feces.

People are refusing to buy anything more from PGI and some are leaving.

70% of people want the game mode restriction rolled back.

Whoever thought this up should be fired.

The system could work, if you login, play a couple of matches, be it skirmish, had your fun and log out. However, if you want to spend an hour or two, or even more, than it becomes tedious and annoying to play the same game mode and maps, over and over and over and over and over again...

It seemed interesting and a good idea initially. You know, until you actually used it for a while.

Then all it means is increased monotony, reduced map selection and the same **** over, and over again. Usually I'm all for change if it even -marginally- improves something. Not seeing Viridian at all -almost- qualifies as that (I really detest that map, nearly as much as the current Alpine garbage), you know, until you find that you're actually craving a drop on one of those **** maps just because you're so damn sick of the others.

In this case all it means is I may as well log on and ****-can entire modes and maps from seeing the light of day because, you know, players incapable of managing their heat. It's a trash change with good intentions on reducing wait times that instead eventually wears into "these feels like some alpha-state where you just had a couple of maps to play and lacked entire modes".

I'm with getting rid of the voting entirely. **** it. Didn't think I would be, but man, that **** gets old ******* fast. If you want to spend time playing, big noooope.

There is one silver lining though; despite taking a much needed break from the shitshow that is CW right now, I'd imagine it makes some folks -crave- playing CW a bit it just for map/mode diversity in a sort of gimped way.
