Only took our future space engineers 3 years to figure it out, but according to instagram.....

From Russ's Twitter (oh noze! Another reason to complain! How dare I have to look at twitter!)

The cockpit monitors are a great addition visually. Out of the gate only the kill counter is dynamic to real game events

In the future we hope to switch more screens over to mech/match related aspects.

yes, I know those predisposed to complain about everything will find plenty to QQ about, but hey, better late than never. Slow ride, take it easy.

Wait, I'm confused... what do they all mean? Do they provide useful info? They look neat... but... what do they tell us?

I honestly do not care whether they are useful or colourful or just a picture of a small kitten. They are not black screens with Autodetect(No Signal) written on them!

Even in 3052, AT&T's crappy service takes forever to get a signal.

Not that I'm complaining much about it, but even GTAV has working dials for cars and planes.

Does it say Autodetect(No Signal)? No? Then it's an improvement.

Would I like it to be fully dynamic, yes. But I will take this over Autodetect(No Signal).

With the bar set so low... "anything but Auto Detect (No Signal)" is an improvement.

I find this most exciting. Every one knows I am not the best player on the globe but I like to have fun and immersion is a major part of any game to me.

I would love LOVE love to have one panel to do with as I pleased, see I would put a picture of my wife in it and that would make me happy as she is hot. If I were going to play in a competitive tournament I would swap the wife out with a pict of my EX wife and no mech could stand in my way as I would dominate from sheer madness or just jump off the tallest structure available.

Thanks for sharing Bishop and hope all is well down south there.

I'm well, thanks for asking. Tech deprived, but still got the important things.... and any day I get to spearfish, life is good. caught a nice yellow trevally today too, so tomorrow's dinner gonna get gud......

Also...for the record, LOVE your idea about an open monitor. Probably too late to make it happen, but even being able to add an "Aftermarket monitor" as a cockpit item to upload a jpeg or something too, would be awesome.

They are a huge improvment, kill counter is a start! Better than Misson kills 0! Match time would an easy one.... I think

Sweet! It'd be hilarious (and kinda immersive -_- ) if as you took damage and components opened up, they blinked out and showed the old auto detect no signal :D

Cool, maybe PGI will loan them out to star citizen to give them a boost!

This is the internet sir, we can't have good things! ( you know it would get abused to hell EX: pictures of human anatomy and offensive messages aimed at spectators )

On the other hand, and considering the OP, I'm glad to see those blank monitors get some love :)

Aftermarket monitor!!! Now that is something I would pay cash for. Due to the wackos we have in this community they would need to code it so that spectators would see said monitor as a random advert or mech profile because we know people would drop in picts of "insert imagination here"

My bright hopes for the future of cockpit screens:
Ability to disable UI except for reticle and still be able to look around and see information:
  • enemy paperdoll and load out
  • your paperdoll and loadout
  • mini map
  • Screen dedicated to orders received such as: "HOLD IN F6.", "ATTACK IN B4", "FLANK LEFT C3"
  • lance (added bonus of their name turning a different colour when they're talking),
  • ammo levels in certain areas of the mech
  • Compass
  • Heat level, Coolant Flushes, Jump jets, Throttle, (one screen)
That'd be wicked awesome with VR. Vive and OR are on the horizon, so... hussel PGI! :D

To take it a step further, It would be really awesome if we could then customize our screens to show which information. Maybe in the same screen we customize our cockpit novelties. That way we can see an example of the cockpit screens. Such as:

Top left screen: [Ammo]
Bottom Center: [Enemy Paperdoll]

Or, Center Right: [Enemy Paperdoll]
Top Center: [Throttle, Heat, Jumpjet Meters]
Bottom Center: [Kill Counter]

Why this? So people who want to go HUD-less, can. HUD-less folk won't need (or want) kill-counters taking up a screen that could be used for important things.
